Dear Sir,

Sub: Birla White Yuvaratna 2016

Birla White is the market leader both in White Cement and in putty. It gives me immense pleasure in presenting the 13th
edition of Birla White Yuvaratna Awards, and the possibilities it holds for the up-and-coming architectural talent of today.

With the support of top Institutes of Architecture, the Yuvaratna Awards have accomplished great maturity and is drawing
enormous participation across the country.

Given the impetus to Smart cities’ sustainable development and smart infrastructure in the country by our Honorable Prime
Minister, the profession of Architecture and Interior Decorations is poised for incredible growth. Students’ enthusiasm and
whole-hearted participation besides the independent judging processes have come to be the foundations of this competition,
making it remarkably different basis the innovative themes each year.

The themes for Yuvaratna 2016 are:

Theme 1: [For First & Second Year]

The students are required to design an Urban Plaza. It must highlight principal functions and to its relationship with the
adjacent public realm (i.e. streets, pedestrian routes, built and other open spaces), activities and architecture. Proposed plaza
design shall be linked to other surrounding open spaces to provide a more dynamic, coherent urban environment and the
design of a plaza shall ensure safety round the clock.

Theme 2: [For Third & Forth Year]

Students are required to design the City Metro station of the corridor III forming an entry gate to the Cyber city IT corridor.
The station is located on a proposed 60M wide Road and abuts the proposed Transit Oriented developments, IT Office
complexes, Bicycle tracks, Bus stops, parking facilities.

I shall appreciate your kind assent for a short presentation to be made by our representative to the students of your
esteemed institute. The presentation would enlighten the students on the competition and familiarize them with various
architectural applications of Birla White. A few posters inviting participation from students will be on display at the college
premise.

Competition Details:
The Competition would involve participants on a National level whose designs will be assessed by a jury of eminent
architects. The winners will be felicitated at a grand function in Mumbai and will have a renowned personality presenting the
awards. Registration and uploading of the drawings by the students have to be completed on the Yuvaratna website:
www.yuvaratna.birlawhite.com.

The Competition will be open from 7th November 2016 to 30th January 2017.

I look forward for your whole-hearted support in making Birla White Yuvaratna 2016 a grand success.
Warm regards,
Sunil Kulwal
