The Abujhmadia tribes reside in Narayanpur, Dantewada and Abujhmad areas of Bijapur district.

Orchha can be called the gateway to Abujhmad. The total


population of this tribe as of 2002 was 19401. At present, their population has increased to more than 22 thousand.

There is no historical record regarding the origin of the Abujhmadia tribe. On the basis of legends, Madiya Gond caste-loving couple ran away from social fear and
came to this inaccessible area and got married and settled there. Due to their descendants living in the Abuzhmad region, they were called Abujhmadiya. Madia
Gond, who normally resides in the Abujhmad region, is called Abujhmadiya.

The village of the Abujhmadia tribe lives mainly in the foothills or valleys of the hills. Abuzmadia people who were completely dependent on panda agriculture were
inhabited temporarily. The agricultural place for Penda agriculture is called ‘Kaghai’. When trees and shrubs around 'Kaghai' were used, they again selected new
'Kaghai' and settled the village. Presently, due to the ban on Penda agriculture by the government, permanent villages have started settling.

" Kamar "
The Kamar tribes reside mainly in Gariaband, Chura, Mainpur in Gariaband district and Nagri and Magarlod development blocks of Dhamtari district. Some of their
families are also residing in Mahasamund and Bagbahara development blocks of Mahasamund district. This tribe has been given the status of "Special Backward
Tribes" by the Government of India. According to the 2011 census, their population in the state is 2453. These include 13070 males and 13460 females.

The Kamar tribe traces its origin to Devdongar village of Mainpur development block. Their biggest deity "Vamana Dev" is still enshrined in the "Vaman Dongri" of
Devdongar.

The houses of the people of this tribe are made of grass thatch or mud. There is a door for entering the house, which is made of wooden or bamboo. Thatch grass
is of straw or rag.Walls are Painted with white clay. The floor is made of clay, which women plunge with cow dung. Household items mainly include mill, grain
storage, bamboo baskets, soup, mats, pottery, cots, pestle bamboo utensil making tools, mulching and weaving clothes, farming tools like - gait, shovel, sickle, Ax
etc. People of this tribe used to hunt, arrow-bow and fishing net are often found in homes. Men and women daily clean teeth by datun and take bath.

" Baiga "
Baiga is a special backward tribe of Chhattisgarh. In Chhattisgarh, their population in census 2011 shows 89744. The people of Baiga tribe in the state are mainly
found in Kawardha and Bilaspur districts. Their main population resides in Dindori, Mandla, Jabalpur, Shahdol district of Madhya Pradesh.

There is no historical evidence regarding the origin of the Baiga tribe. In Russell, Grierson, etc., they are considered to be a separate group of Bhumiya, Bhuiya.
According to legends, Brahma ji created the universe and then produced two people. One was given a "plow" by Brahma. He started farming with "Nagar" and was
called Gond. Brahmaji gave the "tangia" (ax) to the other. He went to the forest cutting with an ax, because there was no cloth at that time, so it was called Nanga
Baiga. The people of Baiga tribe consider these as their ancestors.

The people of Baiga tribe live in inaccessible places of hilly and forest area along with Gonds, Bhumia etc. Their houses are of clay, on which there is a thatch of
grass or thatch. Paint the walls with white or yellow soil. The floor of the house is filled with dung and mud. Their house holds a house of clay, a pestle "pestle",
"bahna", a grain grinder "janta", bamboo baskets, soup, kitchen utensils, aluminum, some brass utensils , Clothes to be worn, arrows, bow, tangia, fishing lamina,
dhutti, instruments include drums, drums, nets, etc.
