The state of housing in India

Importance of housing in urbanisation:
CHARACTERISTICS REQUIERED TO MAKE SUSTAINABLE HOUSING IN URBAN INDIA

● There is a misconception about affordability and urbanisation as far as

housing is concerned. As stated in the text, the government numbers
show RS 600/day as an average daily income but it is way far than the
reality.
● This creates a huge problem for the builders as they have to make profits
from the project and also have to take grants from the schemes. It has
been observed that even being shortage of the houses in urban India
there are a lot of housing project which are completed and still
unoccupied as because of the long list of parameters such as
affordability, society, religion, urbanity, etc.
● They also emphasised on upgrading the existing system of recording the
data of housing using digital technology. So that it would be easy for the
builders as well as the buyer to know about the existing or coming
schemes in which they could opt as per their economical condition.
● It is clearly evident that there has been a rapid increase in the population
of India in past years and it is projected to grow at an increasing pace of
40%, and it is also observed that people are moving to cities for better
living and opportunities.

RESOLUTION:

● I really think government bodies and individual players should come

together in applying the schemes to the project and make the city
sustainable for living according to their need.
● It is the duty of the government to provide good quality housing facilities
to the citizens as it is their fundamental right and private players should
also act in a way that the housing should consist of a good quality roof
over their head.
● As there is a rapid increase in people moving to urban cities, architects
should emphasize on designing more because it is observed that
haphazard constructions have made life in urban cities less sustainable.
