example given, whatever way is more convenient for you). Draw an arrow from each underlined adjective
to the noun or pronoun it modifies.

EXAMPLE: Originally, legal aid was financed almost exclusively by private donations.

1. Providing legal counsel for poor people is called legal aid.

2. It is available in civil and criminal cases.

3. The government assumes responsibility for the legal aid of criminal defendants.

4. In some jurisdictions, the judge appoints private lawyers to represent poor people.
