NETFLIX AS AN ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING TOOL: TO

IMPROVE STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY USING DUAL SUBTITLES

Abstract

The present article aims at discussing the Netflix streaming service as its benefits
to improve students’ vocabulary learning particularly the use of dual subtitles. L2
research has studied the use of dual subtitles (simultaneous L1 subtitles and L2
captions). However, more discussions are needed to gain more proper
understanding. The improvement of EFL and ESL around the world has shown by
Netflix as one of the streaming services over the last decade. As we know, many
EFL students have many problems in vocabulary learning. Netflix has helped
students to improve their vocabulary with the use of dual subtitles.
