Subordinates: No direct but will be leading technical team on projects

Main Purpose of Job

· To be the technical lead on customer and internal projects and programmes related to hybrid
and electric vehicle applications
· To provide engineering oversight and management to the portfolio of hybrid and electric vehicle
projects within the Vehicle Engineering Product Group
· To lead the technical direction of the product group for hybrid and electric vehicle engineering
services and consultancy
· To play an active role in the development and delivery of technology roadmaps for hybrid and
electric engineering services
· To assist the commercial team in winning new engineering projects and programmes by
contribution to the technical content of the proposals and by presenting to the customer.
Key Functions
· Oversee the Group’s portfolio of hybrid and electric vehicle projects, providing engineering
management direction and intervention as required.
· Be the Project Director for assigned projects, taking full accountability for project delivery
metrics in terms of cost, quality and time.
· Be the direct Technical Lead on projects/programmes providing direction, support and hands-
on assistance to other engineers working within the team, in order to ensure the most
appropriate approach whilst maintaining project deliverymetrics.Lead the development and
delivery of the strategic technology roadmaps relating to hybrid and electric vehicle/systems
working as part of the engineering leadership team.
· Provide support to the commercial teams with regards to customer interaction, presenting
capabilities or specifically focussed technical input as appropriate to enhance the opportunities
to secure new business
· Provide the technical input to proposals and bids

Essential Qualifications Preferred Qualifications

· Degree qualification in appropriate
engineering discipline
Essential Experience
· Typically 10 years relevant engineering
and programme experience in the
automotive sector
· Experience of leading programmes and
technical teams in a multi-function
engineering business
· Experience in the engineering service
provider role delivering services and
consultancy to a wide range of
customers
· Experience in building and developing
strong customer relationships and
supporting commercial sales activities
· Ability to work at a senior level within a
team environment
· Ability to present and influence strategic
and technical direction
· Sound knowledge of vehicle electrical
and software systems, their architecture
and integration on vehicles
· Sound knowledge of high voltage
vehicle safety standards (e.g. R100)
· Working knowledge of Functional Safety
processes and standards (e.g.
· Post graduate qualification in a related area
· Chartered Engineer of appropriate recognised
Engineering Institution
· Evidence of leadership skills development and
Continuous Professional Development
Preferred Experience
· To have held positions within an automotive
engineering service provider with OEMs as the
key customers and also to have direct
experience of working for an OEM
· In depth knowledge of a key system or
subsystem associated with hybrid or electric
technology, such as battery or energy storage
systems, powertrain system etc.
· Demonstrable record of accurate project cost
estimating
· Working knowledge of automotive software
development.
· Working knowledge of Matlab, Simulink and
Stateflow
· Practical experience of electrical/electronic
hardware and software development
· Practitioner in vehicle electrical architecture
design and control strategy development in
Simulink
· Use and development of Hardware in the Loop
(HIL) test facilities (dSpace)
 ISO26262) for automotive safety related
systems
· Working knowledge of EMC principles
and standards for automotive
applications
· Specific domain knowledge of Hybrid &
Electrical Vehicle powertrain
architectures and control strategies
· Specific domain knowledge of Hybrid &
Electric Vehicle propulsion b attery
principles, architectures and control
strategies.
· Applied knowledge of automotive
product lifecycle process (V model)
· Knowledge of typical automotive DVP
