ETHICO-MORAL RESPONSIBILITY

As staff nurses, we sometimes encountered ethical dilemmas in patient care. As

much as we wanted to give the best quality care to our patients, sometimes we
need to weigh which is ethical and unethical.

1. If the physician ordered a blood transfusion to the patient but knowing the religion of
the patient, she refused for the said procedure. As a staff nurse on duty, how would
you respond to the request of the patient?

2. If the relative expressed that you better not tell the patient his diagnosis as it could
worsen the condition of the patient. And knowing the right of the patient to know his

relative? What ethical principles need to be weighed in this kind of situation?
