Remembering Ambedkar

While celebrating Ambedkar’s birth anniversary on the 14th of April, we must remember the
struggles which he lead and the enemies he fought, which are still the biggest threat to the
peace-loving people of the country. Relevance of Ambedkar must not be seen as a chairman
of the drafting committee of the constitution of India but he must be remembered for his
struggles such as the Mahad struggle, his burning of manusmriti, his writing such as
“Annihilation of Caste”, “Riddles of Hindusim”, “Triumph of Brahmanism”, etc. Throughout
his whole life, he fought against the Brahmanical Caste system and struggled for the total
annihilation of the same. Today, whereas the ruling class portrays him as a champion of the
constitution of India, on the other hand, they deliberately ignore the fact, when Ambedkar
stated, analyzing the conditions of India, that democracy is a non-functional mechanism.
Owing to such ignorance towards the social strata of Indian society, we are facing the more or
less same repercussions. On the 129th anniversary of Ambedkar, 14 April 2020, Anand
Teltumbde was sent to jail under the anti-people UAPA. His only fault was he fought against
the Brahmanical caste system and demanded a truly democratic society like his grandfather-
in-law Ambedkar. Then Ambedkar wrote “Annihilation of Caste”, today’s Ambedkar, wrote
“Republic of Caste” and is suffering imprisonment for the last 2 years without any just legal
proceeding.
In our contemporary India, dominating electoral parties, who claimed themselves as the next
generation of Ambedkar, just coining his name and reproducing the caste system in India.
Feudal character in India is parallelly hindering the development of vast toiling masses of India
on the caste line and class line. That’s why Anand Teltumbde, a strong voice of oppressed
masses, over emphasis upon the nature of Indian Ruling Class, including those who are doing
token politics in the name of “Bahujan hitay” rhetoric.
Today, the Brahmanical Hindutva fascist nature of the state is on peek, as everyday people are
being killed for eating meat, mosques are being invaded by fascists, as we have seen on
Ramanavami, communal polarization or more clearly saying hate propaganda against Muslims
is leading to a genocidal level, caste playing a great role in this is that the main sufferers in
whole this is people majorly belonging to “lower” castes and oppressed class either it is Hindu
or Muslim or any other faith or community.
Today, the need is to stand against such brutal nature of the state and struggle for a truly
democratic society. bsCEM while remembering Ambedkar, appeals to all the peace-loving
people of the society to struggle against this oppression and exploitation.
