This project was just an idea that I had because I love reading and I use to hate it.

English has

always been hard for me to understand. I had hearing tubes that dropped sp that made me have

surgery on my ear and that made my eye turned in so my eyesight and hearing got bad so that

made me have struggles in schoo and everyday lifel. I did not start talking until about three

years. I decide t0 focus on middle schoolers because thats I first started to enjoy reading

because I found a teacher that showed me that reading books could make my mind run wild. It

was not easy for me to learn reading. You can have different genres of reading and all are ok,

you can have a favorite book, author and series of books. Starting a book and find a book that

you would enjoy is not easy but once you find you will not be able to put it done. I did a program

in middle school that helped and it was called read 180 informally they don’t have that program

anymore. First I did not know the process of making this project but when I got into the project I

realized the respect that I have middle school teachers or teachers in general. I went the middle

school every wednesday for the past couple weeks to do actives and to observe the class. My

mentor was Mrs.Husling since she is the one that help me out when I had struggles and she has

tought me a lot over these couple weeks. She gave me so many ideas what I can to help

students from procrastinating and enjoy reading at the same time and those things are: Split the

class time in half first half indepent work and thensecound half kahoot or bingo for vocab terms,

Some of the students don’t want to write or have no motivation to do things and some of them

didn’t want to play kahoot or other games. Reading time and mtss time can help. Small groups

are great to have so you can go over and explain things more in detail and it is easier for them

to focus on a certain topic that the teacher is teaching.

Helping them one and one and read with them one and one can always help with their

understanding in vocabulary and even what they are reading. Visual and creative ability is

different for every student too. Claperation and group work is helpful as well. Having website like

Jamboard board can bring the class as a whole and you can see what they are thinking. The

more background information and detail you give the students the more aware they will be. Also
journals or even writing down what the read can help as well. Also you can have them write

down with a pencil and paper inside of a ipad or laptop so they don’t have the distraction in front

of them.
