Gyro Emergency Power Supply Short Protection, $8501-1228-6 EFFECTIVITY Model Unit Number 500/501 -0001 and On All aircraft equipped with the J.€.T. Gyro Emergency Power Supply, type PS-835. REASON Jet Electronics and Technology has issued the attached Service Bulletin No. $8501-1228-6 to reduce the possibility of emergency power supply transistors shorting to ground. COMPLIANCE Mandatory at the next scheduled maintenance period or phase inspection. INSTRUCTIONS Any Authorized J.E.T. Power Supply Warranty Overhaul Center will perform this modification at no charge to the operator for compliance with J.€.T. Service Bulletin S8501~1228-6. A list of these centers is printed on the last page of the J.€.1. Service Bulletin. The modification kit listed in this bulletin can be ordered through a J.€.T. Product Distributor or through the J.E.T. Grand Rapids office. A list of these facilities is also printed on the last page of the J.E.T. bulletin. All necessary procedures are transmitted in the J.€.T. Service Bulletin. Grand Rapids, Michigan 49508 January 6, 1982 EFFECTIVITY PS-835( ) COMPLIANCE Mandatory at next service or repair period COMPONENT © Emergency Power Supply PCN 24240 SUBJECT Installation of PS-835A Mod 5 and PS-835B Mod 6 PURPOSE To install Mod 1 on A2 PC Board to reduce possi- bility of transistors shorting to ground. PARTS REQUIRED Modification Kit 504-1648-01 INSTRUCTIONS 1. Refer to Figure 1 and remove two screws (3), washers (6), lock washers (5) and nuts (4) from rear of unit and remove unit from case (1). Remove four screws (9), screw (8) and front plate (7) from front of unit. 3. Remove A2 PC Board (10) from frame assembly (2) by with- drawing PC Board (10) from connector (19). 4, Refer to Figure 2 and remove screws (3), spacers (5), standoff (6), insulators (8), non-metallic shouldered washers (4) and heatsink and nut assembly (2) from battery Monitor PWB (1). Discard non-metallic shouldered washers (a). 5. Remove resistor Rl and install resistor 21 (kit item 1) in its place insuring that body of resistor is flush with outer edge of Battery Monitor PWB (1). 6. Remove resistor R7 and instali re tor R7 (kit item 2) in its place insuring that body of resistor is flush with outer edge of Battery Monitor PWB (1). 7. Place non-metallic shouldered washers (4) (kit item 3), spacers (5), standoff (6), insulators (8), heatsink and nut assembly (2) in position over holes in transistors and PW board (1) securing in position with screws (3). Insure the positioning of hardware items is maintained and that no shorts are caused when securing in position with screws (3). Service Bulletin $B501-1228-6 Figure 1.
