 Q: Where have you previously worked previously?

 Q: What was your roll during your last contract?

 Q: Tell me about your experiences onboard tug boats.

 Q: What is your role as a CE onboard a vessel?

 Q: What is MARPOL?
A: Marine Pollution (The International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships)

 Q: What are the safety devices for main engine?


A: High temp water, Low Oil Pressure, & Over speed protection Low Gear oil pressure.
 Q: What type of over speed devices are there?
A: Mechanical & Electrical
 Q: How does both mechanical & Electrical over speed devices work?
A: Mechanical works by centrifuge power and electrical works by RPM reading.
 Q: What experience you have in [Engine Maker]?

 Q: Do you have H2S course? If the H2S alarm sounds, what do you do?
A: Immediately don your SCBA and proceed to Highest point [Bridge] for briefing.
 Q: If your diesel engine RPM is hunting, what will you check first?
A: Fuel oil Pressure/Filters
 Q: What is the procedure for receiving FO bunker?
A: All other operations must be stopped & Pre-bunker checklist instructions must be carried out.
 Q: How good is your computer skills?

 Q: Can the Overboard valve for sewage discharge be open at Port?


A: NO
 Q: If your ME is running but no water is flowing from the OV discharge pipe, What could be the problem?
A: SW pump damaged, clogged SW strainer or clogged SW cooler.
 Q: If your generator Voltage is hunting but engine RPM is steady, what could be the problem?
A: AVR malfunction.
 Q: When should the CO2 system be ready?
A: Always.
 Q: Before releasing CO2 in the ER to stop fire, What is the procedure?
A: Make sure all personnel is outside the ER area, close all doors and air vents then release CO2 gas to extinguish fire.
 Q: What is your Birth date?

 Q: Minimum times per week you update your Oil Record book?
A: 1 entry per week minimum
 Q: If there is fire in the galley and you are the only person there to see it, what is the procedure?
A: first activate the fire alarm to alert personnel, attempt to extinguish the fire with portable extinguisher.
 Q: Do you know what is a JSA?
