News Story 1: Senior Prank

A group of seniors have signed up to speak at tomorrow’s school board meeting

to protest being banned from the all-night senior party as a result of a senior prank.

“I gave ample warnings to the senior class that I would not tolerate any sort of
prank that disrupts school,” principal Vinita Haygood said. “Releasing more than 1,000
balloons between classes did precisely that.”

On April 2, 20 seniors released more than 1,000 balloons between 1st and 2nd
period as a senior prank.

“We blew up a few balloons and released them,” senior Ruby Kanur said. “ It
wasn’t a big deal, but Principal Haygood is turning it into one.”

The previous year, the seniors smeared vaseline on the doorknobs and lockers.
They were not caught which is what makes the seniors more angry. Some
administration were worried about the fact that someone might’ve had a latex allergy.

“We knew no one had a latex allergy,” senior Alfred Refugio said “We checked it
out first. We were careful, and no one was hurt or upset.”

Last year two students had latex allergies. The school wanting to make sure that
no one had a latex allergy was merely a precaution. It took the janitors over an hour to
clean.

“The hallways were chaotic and super loud during the balloon release,” math
teacher Grace Killeen said. “The seniors didn’t mean any harm, but the prank was
disruptive.”

Killeen said the noise levels were off the charts. The school had over 150 tardies
for 2nd period the day of the prank.

“They should have released the balloons at the end of the day,” Killen said “That
would have been much less disruptive.”
