Do you agree with this statement, “nanotechnology can make our life luxurious, but may

lose our identity as humans?”

Nanotechnology is science, engineering, and technology conducted at the nanoscale, which is

about 1 to 100 nanometers. Nanoscience and nanotechnology are the study and application of
extremely small things and can be used across all the other science fields, such as chemistry,
biology, physics, materials science, and engineering. Nanotechnology involves the development
of tiny amounts of materials far smaller than the human eye can detect.

The nanotechnology used in everyday life? In my search, The average person already
encounters nanotechnology in a range of everyday consumer products, nanoparticles of silver are
used to deliver antimicrobial properties in hand washes, bandages, and socks and zinc or titanium
nanoparticles the active UV-protective elements in modern sunscreens. As with any new
scientific developments, nanotechnology is not without concerns, with key issues being health,
safety, and environmental aspects. So, The overarching purpose of nanotechnology is to create
better circumstances for humans and environment. If the nano industry can grow, it can help us
to solve the energy crisis, save the environment. And diagnose and cure adverse disease.
Nanotechnology can be used for cheap and easy water purification, available and cheap energy,
faster computers, long- lasting mobiles phone batteries, implants, Diagnose of disease, better
surgical tools and targeted delivery of medicine. These new properties may cause a problem if
nanoparticles are unintentionally released very few of these particles exist in nature and we as
human have not been exposed to them throughtout evolution. Therefore, we cannont be sure that
our body have developed defense mechanisms to deal with them. So, We don’t know if this
nanotechnology will have unanticipated effects because our recognition of the necessity of
unanticipated consequences doesn’t become an excuse for ignoring the future. While, no one
can fully predict the future of a technology, collectively we can reflect on what kind of future
technologies we are working toward and what kind of consequences analogous technologies
have had in the past. Just because we cannot predict the future with certainly doesn’t mean that
we’re powerless. We often have a good enough idea about plausible scenarios to discuss the
possibilities and decide what is at stake. In the future, nanotechnology could also enable object to
harvest energy from their environment. New nano-materials and concepts are currently being
development that show potiental for producing energy from movement, light, variation in
temperature, glucose and other sources with high conversion efficiency.

For me, 50/50. 50% agree because, nanotechnology, yes it can make our life luxurious and there
have positive sides. The nanomaterial will raise the development to a new level, employing novel
physical, electrical and mechanical effects to make electronics which will be faster, lighter,
cheaper and easier to manufacture, and which will have low power consumption. Many people
are suspicious about the potential effects of nanomaterials on our health, planet, and ecosystems.
Some studies claim that certain kinds of nanomaterials are quite toxic to algae, invertebrates, and
fish. Nanomaterials can be even transferred across many generations in animals and plants. We
have to stay informed about this new technology. People should share what they know with
others. The more people know about nanotechnology, the more likely that manufacturers will
take into consideration health and safety standards. So it makes our life easier, better and
improving the lives of people using nanotechnology because it was faster to help us in future.
But At the moment, nanotechnology is unregulated. In the 50% disagree, Because i don’t know if
we can lose our identity as a human but these have a negative sides effects. Base on my search,
this nanotechnology has raised standards of living but at the same time, it has increased pollution
which includes air pollution. The pollution caused by nanotechnology is known nano pollution.
This kind of pollution is very dangerous for living organisms. And to nanoparticles can get into
the body throught the skin, lungs and digestive system. This may help create “free radicals”
which can cause cell damage and damage to the DNA. So we cannot know if this is good for us
for our health, or in our environment or in our society.
