Book: Insights into Creating Abundance

Chapter 1: “Life is too short. Suffering is Optional: How to make Every Relationship Peaceful”

Relationship and people around us play a vital role in our life. Just like the healthy food we eat, clean
water we drink and the hygienic place we live in are important for a healthy, happy and liveable life
in the same way our relationships define the quality of our life and have its consequences. A good
and healthy relationship would bring peace and a “toxic” relationship will leave you helpless and
unhappy.

This chapter tries us to explain how to deal with relationships and live a peaceful life when life is
short and suffering is optional. The chapter mentions three ways to approach a relationship when it
starts deteriorating first courage to change, humility to accept and last wisdom to walk away. There
are few instances when I followed these approaches in my life.

I met my best friend in 8th standard and till the course of our friendship we had fought over many
issues. Both of us has lost our temper to the worst but every time we had our arguments we tried
understanding each other’s opinion and were always there by each other’s side even in worse
times. Our opinions clashed at some topics but before judging each other all we did was to accept
and understand. We communicate when things go wrong and try changing it for better.

Now, when I look into relationship with my friends, family and colleagues I can say I am around
people with whom I share a healthy bond and where I don’t have to sacrifice my mental health to
keep it. The openness, introspection and acceptance have played a crucial role in having a better
relationship.
