2. History

Mr. A, 27 years old Bangladeshi was found hanging in his house toilet by his roommate
at 5:20am of 6th March 2020.
At 5.20 a.m, his roommate woke up to use the toilet but found it locked from inside. He
knocked the door several times but there was no response. Immediately, he woke up the
rest of the housemates. All of them forced and beak the door open. In the toilet, the
deceased was hanging by a white-black rope in typical position of knot from the water
tank. The deceased was in partial suspension of leg touching the toilet bowl.
Immediately they called the ambulance and police. The deceased was then brought to the
Forensic Department of HTAR at 9:45am on 6th March 2020 by the investigating officer.
The police officer briefed the entire scenario to the medical officer in charge. The
deceased stayed in a rented house with his co-workers & sleeps in a room of 4 people.
According to the investigating officer, his boss described the deceased as a responsible,
good worker and was not depressed a day before he committed suicide. Based on his
housemates, the deceased was having a good relationship with them but he would argue
very often with his girlfriend from Bangladesh. The night before they saw the deceased
verbally arguing over the hand phone with his girlfriend. Since it was occurring very
often, they went to sleep.
The autopsy commenced at 3:00pm on 6th March 2020.

3. External Examination

a) Clothing

Short sleeved green t-shirt (Brand : Gazi Enterprise)


Dark blue patterned shorts
Black boxers (Size M ; Brand : MR)
Black watch on left wrist (Brand: G- gear)
b) General appearance
Gross appearance A medium built adult
Ligature on the neck with black n white rope, tied in a sliding knot at the
right side of the neck

Height 165 cm

Weight 60-70kg

Hair Short black hair

Eye Petechial haemorrhage on conjunctiva bilaterally

Nose No bleeding, no purge fluid

Ear No bleeding

Lips Cyanosed

Mouth No bleeding, no purge fluid

Tongue Not protruded, bitten marks seen

Teeth All intact, no dental abnormalities

Neck Ligature mark which was incomplete, oblique and lower part of neck
Measuring 30.5 cm x 3.4cm
 5.3 cm from chin
 11 cm from sternal notch
 2.5 cm from right earlobe
 5cm from left ear

Skin No evidence of injury in other parts of the body

Upper limb Left hand had well healed hesitation mark & scars

External genitalia Normal adult male genital, not swollen

Stomach and intestine Normal. Stomach contain large amount of partially


digested food.

Kidneys/ ureter/ bladder Easy to remove capsule. Smooth surface. Cortico-
medullary junction was clear (no hypertensive changes).
