SUCCESSFUL
PROJECTS IN THE
MAR
The MAR-RRN is pleased to announce
the development of a new consultancy
that aims to share the knowledge,
experiences, best practices, and
methodologies in reef restoration that
exist in the region with the hopes of
strengthening and promoting these
best practices.
Throughout the next 3 months our
consultant will be diving deep into 4
specific restoration projects in the MAR
to learn what makes them successful!
In addition we will be looking to gather
information about every project within
the region so we can have a better
understanding of what all our members
are currently doing. Be on the lookout
for some communications regarding
this consultancy soon!

MESOAMERICAN
REEF DAY
MAR Day is celebrated every March 10
since 2007. The date of this celebration
was established by the presidents of the
four countries that make it up: Mexico,
Belize, Guatemala and Honduras, during a
meeting held on July 11, 2006 in Panama
City. This meeting was held to renew the
commitments from the presidents for
MAR, in the framework of the Tulum
Declaration, signed in 1997. How are you
celebrating this year?Mar 2022 ENG pe.2

HRI REGIONAL PARTNER MEETING
From the 21st to the 24th of February, Healthy Reefs for Healthy People hosted their
Regional Partner's meeting. During this important gathering several organizations,
institutions, and individuals including several of our MAR-RRN members joined
together to discuss the upcoming Report Card.
The event was special because, in addition to highlighting the current state of the
MAR, MAR-RRN members were able to present on various projects in the region. In
particular, Dr. Ania Banaszak, a former Executive Committee member, was able to
showcase her important work and advances in terms of restoration in the face of
Stony Coral Tissue Loss Disease (SCTLD).Mar 2022 ENG pes
