Connotative meaning is a meaning that is influenced by the experiences and emotions given by

each individual into a word, which makes a difference in the social function of words with almost
the same meaning, because they are related to emotional values.

The relationship between the word and the speaker

When the speaker conveys an idea, the listener acts as a listener. When the listener responds
to the message, a role change has taken place. When the listener gives a response, the listener
who previously acted as a listener changes his role to become a speaker, while the party who
was originally a speaker, when receiving a response changes his role to become a listener. And
so on, the alternation of roles between the two parties takes turns during the speaking activity.

Example
Calling older people by name When we call people who are older than us by name, we are
definitely considered rude. Usually we use the terms Bapak, Ibu, mas, or mbak when calling
someone who is older than us. The use of this term is useful for people who serve us, so it
sounds more polite
