During the banquet , Macbeth sees the ghost of Banquo sitting at his place at the table. Lady Macbeth reassures the guests that it is a momentary fit and tells Macbeth to stop. She ask the guest to sit and continue eating , saying that if they ‘note him’ too much , theu will ‘offend him and extend his passion’ or make his ‘fit’ and confusion last longer. She tells the people that he is having a fit and he has had this condition since he was a child and it will be over soon. The ghost disappears and Macbeth is calm.
