All chords in the Intro and Part 1 are from D Aeolian, or

natural minor (D E F G A Bb C).
You could also use minor pentatonic (D F G A C). The chords all have very
similar note content, so it’s worth targeting the differences – Dm and Gsus2
have an A note, while obviously the Bb chord has a Bb note. If you’re feeling
ambitious, note that the Gsus2 is neither major or minor, so you could
switch to D Dorian here (D E F G A B C). The B note is the major 3rd of G.

In Part 2, D Dorian is still our “home” scale, but we need a couple of tweaks.
For the A major chord, D harmonic minor (D E F G A Bb C#) sounds really
cool – the C# note is the major 3rd. You can even start using this scale over
the initial Dm chord. Then for the F-G change, you’ll need D Dorian (D E F G A
B C) again for the G chord, and you can also use this over the F chord.
