DEAD”.
Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Mexico, especially in the Central
and South regions, in Mexican culture, death is viewed as a natural part of the human
cycle.Mexicans don't see it as a day of sadness but as a day of celebration because their loved
ones wake up and celebrate with them.
Traditions connected with the holiday include building private altars called `ofrendas`, honoring
the deceased using skulls, and the favorite foods and drinks of their family, and visiting graves
with these as gifts. In addition the people leave possessions of the deceased at the graves.
Rituals celebrating the deaths of ancestors had been observed by these civilizations perhaps for
as long as 2,500–3,000 years ago. Many years ago the festival that became the modern Day of
the Dead was celebrated in the ninth month of the Aztec calendar, in early August, and this
events was for a month. In this holiday had developed to honor dead children and infants on
November 1, and to honor deceased adults on November 2. This event was dedicated to the
goddess known as the “Lady of the Dead”, better known as “La Calavera Catrina”. Also all the
people in this country usually dress up as a “Catrina”
So now … Around the world is known as "dia de los muertos" in English-speaking
countries as the Day of the Dead or better known as halloween, the festivities begin on
October 31 and last through November 2.
This day the people go to the cemeteries and after visiting her families, the people are
going the restaurant because in this day Peru celebrating “Creole Music Day” and the
food is tradition in this holiday.
The holiday is all about getting together with friends and family to remember and
celebrate ancestors who have died.
They also visit their loved ones’ graves, leaving these gifts and other beloved
possessions as tribute to the deceased. In some cities, children will dress up in costume
and go door-to-door asking candies.
Also the people go to the nightclubs, for general the young people. In USA the people
decorate their houses with pumpkins, Halloween is a scary day. The people go to the
cinema and they see scare movie.
In many U.S. communities with Mexican residents, Day of the Dead celebrations are very
similar to those held in Mexico. In some of these communities, in states such as Texas,
New Mexico, and Arizona, the celebrations tend to be mostly traditional. The event
combines elements of traditional Day of the Dead celebrations with those of pagan
harvest festivals.
