The Henley College- 64441

During my time at The Henley College; I have learnt many new skills including
Filming, Editing, Directing, Project and Time Management.
From looking at my first piece of work to my most recent unit ‘Be creative’, I
have made significant progress, in both filming and other technical disciplines.
For example, I have learnt how to use a Premiere Pro, and editing software
that I had never used before arriving at The Henley College. I have also used
lots of different equipment, and have been expanding my kit over the 2 years! I
learnt how vital a microphone is and what lights to use for different moods.

For my FMP, I am intending to create a ‘Coming of Age’ short film, following

the friendship of two young girls.
My previous productions have mostly been thrillers, so I wanted to venture
slightly out of my comfort zone and choose a different genre, but still playing it
safe as it is our Final Project.

My production will start with two best friends (roughly 7-9 years of age), who
are inseparable, and can’t imagine life without each other. Everything changes
when one of the friends must move away. The girls keep in touch but they miss
each other very much.

I am hoping to create a sense of nostalgia and relatability with the flashbacks

of my characters. The idea of friends moving away is a common thing that
happens in today’s society. Same with bullying, unfortunately many people of
all ages (especially teenagers), which is why others watching my film might
relate. When one finds something to relate to in a film, it automatically makes
them intrigued, wanting to carry on watching.

Over the coming months, I am going to write weekly blogs to keep track of my
work. In the last unit, I fell behind, as my lack of weekly blogs hindered my
achieving the grade I would have liked., so this time I want to make sure my
weekly blogs are as detailed as possible.
As my ideas progress and change, I will be sure to conduct focus groups and
surveys, to get feedback and comments before continuing.
