Calibration of Pressure Transducer

1. Aim of the Experiment: Calibration of pressure transmitter.

2. Specification of pressure Transmitter:

a. Model: PT Series
b. Range :0-50 bar
c. Output: 4-20mA
d. Input: 24 Vdc
3. Instruments to be used:

a. Agilent Data Acquisition System.

b. Dead Weight Tester
c. DC power supply

4. Operating Procedure:

a. Priming of the dead weight tester

I. Connect the test gauge to the test port
II. Open the oil reservoir needle valve and cover
III. Rotate the RAM in anti-clock wise direction
IV. Open the Isolating Valve
V. Operate the priming pump so that air bubbles come out of the reservoir
VI. Rotate the RAM in clock wise and anti-clockwise direction and ensure that no more air
bubbles come out of the reservoir
VII. Fixed the reservoir cover, spring needle valve with the tank

b. Test Procedure:
I. Connect the Pressure sensor to the DAQ and DC supply as specified in the pressure sensor.
II. Place the base weight on the top of the piston pin.
III. Give initial pressure using priming pump and close the isolating valve.
IV. Rotate the ram screw in clock wise direction to the required pressure for calibration.
V. Select weight according to range of the instruments under test.
VI. Apply pressure simultaneously rotating the weights until the weight floats and stop at the
mark on the piston.
VII. Note the pressure displayed by the DAQ.
VIII. Increase or decrease the pressure using the RAM and dead weights repeat sl no VI and fill
the following observation table

IX. Plot the curve for pressure vs mV/mA

X. Generate a correlation between measured pressured and mV/mA displayed for the
pressure transmitter.
