Activity 2: KINDS OF DOCUMENTS

PUBLIC DOCUMENT

Description: any instrument notarized by a notary public


or competent public official with solemnities required by law.
Public Documents are documents or records that are
authenticated by the public officer. Public documents also
contain statements made by the public officer in his official
capacity that are admissible as evidence of the fact in civil
matters .

Uses: Public records help maintain transparency and


accountability in government. A public record is information that
is recorded and stored by a government to which a member of
the public has a right to access and review.
OFFICIAL DOCUMENT

Description: any instrument issued by the


government or its agents or its officers having the
authority to do so and the offices, which in accordance
with their creation, they are authorized to issue and be
issued in the performance of their duties.

Uses: The basic and most common official documents confirming your identity in the Philippines
are your passport and your driver's license. In addition to the driver's license and passport your identity
may be confirmed by: birth certificate, residency permit, visa, and a firearms certificate, among others.
PRIVATE DOCUMENT

Description: every deed or


instrument executed by a private
person without the intervention of a
notary public or of any person
legally authorized, by which
documents, some disposition or
agreement is proved, evidence or
set forth.

Uses: Private Documents are those


documents which are made by an individual
his/her personal interest under his/her
individual right. Private Document is in the
hands of the individual to whom the document belongs to and is not available for inspection to the
general public.
COMMERCIAL DOCUMENT

Description: any instrument executed in accordance


with the Code of Commerce or any Mercantile Law,
containing disposition of commercial rights or obligations.
Commercial documents are written records of commercial
transactions describing various aspects of those transactions.
They may include orders, invoices, shipping documents,
transport papers, and certificates of origin.

Uses: used for detailing the price, value and quantity of


goods being sold. It is the document used to determine taxes
and duties and is required for a package to clear customers.
For this reason, it is the most important document needed
when you're shipping internationally.
