Access to Healthcare during COVID-19

The current pandemic situation is disrupting the continuity of first-level medical facilities due to
the government's top priority in the fight against COVID 19. Providing medical protocols impedes the
continuity of various implementations in healthcare institutions. On the one hand, public concerns about
the dangers of COVID 19 are affecting the intensity of visits to medical facilities. In addition, the gap in
medical facilities between regions still poses challenges in terms of program management, staff
capacity, and the number of medical facilities that are still inadequate. This condition means that access
and quality of medical services have not yet reached the overall level. Population in particularly
disadvantaged areas. The COVID19 pandemic has brought about an extraordinary change in the practice
of medical facilities. In the current pandemic situation, doctors need to adapt to the current situation.
One of them is the use of telemedicine. The use of telemedicine has become a viable tool for
maintaining patient care and reducing the risk of COVID 19 exposure to patients, healthcare
professionals, and the general public. The effectiveness of telemedicine also affects the medical funding
required, as patients can use telemedicine to talk to their doctor about their condition without going to
the hospital. However, some obstacles have been identified. Telemedicine is not a complete replacement
for face-to-face interactions, and policy makers need to address increasing privacy, regulatory, and
insurance coverage issues. In addition, more research is needed to assess the efficacy and quality of the
treatment it provides. WHO guidelines emphasize digital modalities for multiple purposes to maintain
essential health services. These guidelines are in line with current research and practice using
telemidicine solutions as a catalyst and driver, such as clinical consultations conducted via video chat or
text message, electronic pharmacies, staff helplines and mobile clinics with remote connections. For
effective access to health services during the covid 19 pandemic, research and guidelines must be
systematically directed by a systemic framework. Ensuring access to health services is very important to
prevent illness and death due to COVID-19 and non-covid-19 cases in a health system that deteriorated
during the pandemic so as to be able to achieve overall health welfare in accordance with community
expectations.
