1.1.13. LOW PRESSURE RUBBER HOSE FOR MOUNTING WITH CLAMPS (MIL-DTL-6000)
Eaton’s Aeroquip crimp fittings provide permanent protection against leakage, even after high temperature aging and
impulsing to 250.000 cycles or more. Their reliable performance is due to the independence of the sealing function
from the retention function. The service proved fittings also feature corrosion resistant materials and reduced envelope
dimensions. Its weight saving construction makes it the lightest fitting available in most sizes. Eaton’s Aeroquip fittings
are available in both flared and flareless types to mate with MS33656 (AS4395) and MS33514 (AS4375) end
connections. In addition, elbow fittings are available in standard 45° and 90° styles. Two-Piece Fittings consist of a
nipple assembly and a socket, which become an integral assembly when attached to teflon hose. This simplifies the
production process and results in a high quality product.
Eaton’s Aeroquip reusable fittings provide permanent protection against leakage, even after high temperature aging
and impulsing to 250.000 cycles or more. Their reliable performance is due to the independence of the sealing
function from the retention function. The service proved fittings also feature corrosion resistant materials and reduced
envelope dimensions. Its construction allows “field attachment”. Eaton’s Aeroquip fittings are available in both flared
and flareless types to mate with MS33656 (AS4395) and MS33514 (AS4375) end connections. In addition, elbow
fittings are available in standard 45° and 90° styles. Three-Piece Fittings consist of a nipple assembly, a sleeve and a
socket, which become an integral assembly when attached to teflon hose.
Adjustable elbow fittings are easily positioned through 360° to the desired relative angle between opposite elbow
fittings. Mock-up and prototype installation changes are simplified, as the position angle can be determined on the
actual installation.

2. Assembly Instructions
Step 1:
Cut hose squarely to length. Use hose cut-off machine or fine tooth hacksaw. Do not
remove the cover if using a hacksaw; wrap hose with several layers of tape before
cutting.
Step 2:
Place socket in vise. Do not over-tighten vise on thin walled sockets of lightweight
fittings. Screw hose counter-clockwise into socket until it bottoms. Back off 1/4 turn.
Step 3:
Tighten nipple and nut on ssembly mandrel. The use of Aeroquip S1051 hand
assembly tools are recommended to avoid damage to the sealing surface and to
properly support the inner tube.
Step 4:
Lubricate inside of hose and nipple threads liberally. Use lubricating oil, petrolatum or
light grease.
Step 5:
Screw nipple into socket and hose using wrench on assembly tool hex. Nut must
swivel freely when assembly tool is removed. Maximum allowable gap between nut
and socket is 1/16” (1,6mm). On dash -32 screw in until turning becomes difficult,
back out nipple, relubricate and reassemble.
Step 1:
Cut hose squarely to length. Use hose cut off machine or fine tooth hacksaw. If using
a hacksaw, wrap hose with tape before cutting. Do not remove cover.
Step 2:
Place socket in vises. Do not over-tighten vise on thin walled sockets of lightweight
fittings. Screw hose counter-clockwise into socket until it bottoms. Back off 1/4 turn.
Step 3:
Flange elbow fittings. Drop flange over threaded end of nipple. Nipple shoulder must
fit into counter bore of flange.
Step 4:
Lubricate inside of hose and nipple threads liberally. Use lubricating oil, petrolatum or
light grease.
Step 5:
Screw nipple into socket and hose using wrench on elbow hex. Tighten until hex is
snug against socket. On dash -32 and larger sizes, screw in until turning becomes
difficult, back out nipple, relubricate and reassemble.
Step 6:
Adjustments may be necessary to obtain the desired position angle between two
elbows. In order to minimize backing off elbows to position, the following procedure
should supplement Step 5.
A. Tighten both elbows to maximum allowable gap (reference Step 6C), then start to
position for relative angle between the elbows.
C. Maximum allowable gap between nipple hex and socket is 1/16” (1,6mm) using
303 and 302A hose.
Use hose cut-off machine or fine tooth hacksaw. To
minimize wire braid flare-out, wrap hose with masking tape and saw through tape.
Remove tape before step 2.
Step 2:
Insert hose in socket with a twisting, pushing motion until hose is in line with back of
socket threads.
Step 3:
Important – mark hose position around hose at rear of socket. Use a grease pencil,
painted line or tape.
Step 4:
Lubricate inside of hose and nipple threads liberally. Use SAE30 lubricating oil. Avoid
getting oil in the cutting spur of the nipple.
Step 5:
Carefully insert nipple and engage nipple and socket threads while holding hose in
position with other hand. Make sure that hose does not push out of socket by
observing mark made in step 3.
Step 6:
Complete assembly using wrench while continuing to hold in position. Maximum
allowable gap is 0.041” (1mm) in sizes dash -3, dash -4 and dash -5, and 0.031”
(0,8mm) in size dash -6 and up.
Step 7:
IMPORTANT – check for hose push-out by observing hose position mark. None
should be evident. Clean, inspect and proof test.
Note: Hose push-out after proof test should not exceed 1/32 inch or size 12 and up.
None is allowable on smaller sizes.
Step 1:
Follow through steps 1, 2, and 3, above.
Step 2:
Flange elbow fittings. Drop flange over threaded end of nipple. Nipple shoulder must
fit into counterbore of flange.
Step 3:
Lubricate inside of hose and nipple threads liberally. Use SAE30 lubricating oil. Avoid
getting oil in the cutting spur of the nipple.
Step 4:
Carefully insert nipple and engage nipple and socket threads while holding hose in
position with other hand. Make sure hose does not push out of socket by observing
mark.
Step 5:
Complete assembly using wrench on elbow hex while continuing to hold hose in
position. Tighten until hex is snug against socket. On forged elbow, use wrench on
forging flats. Tighten until shoulder is snug against socket.
Step 6:
Adjustments may be necessary to obtain the desired position angle between two
elbows. In order to minimize backing off elbows to position, the following procedure
should supplement step 5:
A. Tighten both elbows to within .031 inches of socket then start to position for relative
angle between elbows.
Step 7:
IMPORTANT – check for hose push-out. See step 6 above. Clean, inspect and proof
test.
Elbow Fittings
Note: Hose push-out after proof test should not exceed 1/32 inch on sizes 12 and up.
None is allowable on smaller sizes.
Step 2:
Push the sleeve over the end of the tube and under the wire braid by hand. Complete
positioning of the sleeve by pushing the hose end against a flat surface. Visually
inspect to see that the tube butts against the inside shoulder of the sleeve. Set the
sleeve barbs into the Teflon tube by pushing a round nose tapered punch into the end
of the sleeve and tube.
Step 3:
Lubricate nipple and socket threads. Use a molydisulfide base lubricant for stainless
steel fittings (e.g. Molykote Type G); lubricants containing chloride are not
recommended. Other material combinations use standard petroleum lubricants. Hold
the nipple with hex in the vise. Push hose over nipple with twisting motion until seated
against nipple chamfer. Push socket forward and start threading of socket to nipple.
Step 4:
