ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
The success and final outcome of this Seminar work required a lot of guidance and assistance
from many people and I am extremely fortunate to have got this all along the completion of my
seminar work. Whatever I have done is only due to such guidance and the assistance.
I owe my profound gratitude to my seminar guide Prof. Suneel C. Shinde who look keen
interest in my seminar work and guided us all along, till the completion of my seminar work by
providing all the necessary information and valuable suggestion for developing a good system.
With deep sense of gratitude, I also acknowledge the encouragement of the Head of the
Department Prof. Ashwini Gavali for her continuous support and permitting me to make use of the
facilities available in the department.
I am also thankful and fortunate enough to get constant encouragement, support and guidance from
entire teaching and non-teaching staff of Department of Computer Science and Engineering who
helped us in successful completion of my seminar work.
Last but not the least, I am thankful to my Parents, family members and all my friends for
their support and help, extended during this Seminar work.
ABSTRACT
Generally the usage of vehicle tracking system has been increased rapidly. The major concern of the
proposed system is identifying the vehicle theft by implementing anti-system. Car accidents are taken into
consideration certainly one of the most detrimental phenomena. Though there are numerous different
reasons behind car accidents, most injuries occur due to driver’s unawareness and uncontrolled
speed. Also, there appears to be a trouble accomplishing the spot of accident on time due to loss of
awareness. So smart vehicle using an Internet of Things (IoT) technology is the solution to reduce
the number of accidents and also to prevent theft. This paper presents a smart system design to detect
the accident immediately. This system always monitors the gap between the vehicles using ultrasonic
sensor. The proposed design is cognizant with GPS/GPRS and GSM that automatically send an alert
message to family members and nearest rescue team. The GPS/GPRS system continuously keeps the
track of vehicle location and can be used during an accident and theft.

Smart Vehicle Monitoring and Tracking System
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
One of the most usable technologies in this trending world is IoT. IoT
describes about the embedded devices which are interlinked with the internet.
IoT Internet of Things encompasses devices like sensors, actuators, motors etc.
Nowadays the major concern of the people is securing the valuable objects like
vehicles. Security is enhanced by using GPS. The proposed system is used as an
anti-theft system in transport systems, public vehicles. In this automobile world,
Most of the people depend on vehicles and / or means of transportation system
to commute. This automobile usage has increased the traffic and chances of
accidents. As per US publisher Ward’s estimation in 2010, there were 1.015
billion motor vehicles are used by people throughout the globe. This figure
include the number of cars, trucks (light, medium and heavy duty), but off-road
vehicles or heavy construction equipment is not included. The comparison
between 1950 and 1970, the vehicle population got double roughly in every 10
years. . Smart Tracker system combines Internet technology, GPS and terrestrial
networks such as GSM/GPRS. The device fitted in the vehicle has a built in
GPS receiver determines the vehicle location, travelling speed, direction etc.
The device sends the data via GSM/GPRS wireless network to the Vehicle
Tracking Application.
According to Global status report on road safety 2018 by WHO the number of
deaths on roads is unacceptably high, with an estimated 1.35 million people
dying every year. It additionally represents the several losses of lives; occur
because of lack of instant medical support. Despite of the fact, the new
innovation and technology has progressed so much, still the road fatalities
continue to increase worldwide. In order to improve the road safety, vast
development in the wireless technology had introduced a new type of the
network such as Vehicular Ad-hoc NET work which provides the inter vehicle

RESULT AND DISCUSSION
In order to avoid the accident the ultrasonic sensor alerts the driver by
using Red, Blue LED and buzzer. When there is no obstacles and vehicles
in the range of ultrasonic sensor then no warning signal will generate.
When there is any obstacle or another vehicle in the range of ultrasonic
sensor, it sends the signal to controller and controller generates the
warning signal to alert the driver in the form of buzzer and LED
indication.
In case if an accident occur due to the carelessness of driver then the
active sensor (vibration sensor) send this alteration message to controller,
by using GSM and GPS module an emergency alert is send to the
predefined number with the location.
CONCLUSION
Smart Vehicle Monitor and Tracking system avoid the accidents just by using
some sensors and controlling board. In the case of any injury, medical
assistance can be easily provided by using GPS and GSM module. It also
provides the safety and security for public vehicle and also to private vehicle.
Therefore tracking system for vehicle is going to be proposed to locate actual
location of the vehicles where it is stolen or carried away. The proposed system
can be used in private vehicle, public transportation, military applications and
school buses etc.
