Directions: Please answer the following questions with your knowledge and
observations on the knowledge, skills, attitude and values of the literature
teacher.

1. Reflect on your own knowledge and skills in reading and teaching literature.
Would you consider yourself already well-equipped to teach literature in
junior high school? Why yes? Why not?

No, I don’t consider myself already well-equipped to teach literature.

Although I have learned various strategies, techniques, and methods in our
course, Literature in the ESL Class, which helped me prepare and persevere
in the previous teaching demonstration. I believe that I still have lots of
room for improvement, especially in immersing myself in literature. For
someone who just grew fond of reading in high school and who mostly read
for leisure, I am not confident with the amount of literature I have been
exposed to and how easily I can be pleased as a reader. I think that being a
critical reader is a must for a future literature teacher. Since literature
should be learned and taught not only in meaning but also on a deeper

level, paying attention to the details and development of the texts, its
theme, and the values embedded in it.

2. If you answered NO in question 1, which aspect of teaching literature

would you like to learn more and improve upon? Explain.

I like to improve the way I pose and process questions when analyzing a
text and navigate discussion to be more engaging. That way I can very well
interact with my students, keeping away from replicating what I had
trouble with in our teaching demonstration. As pointed out during the
evaluation, it's important that questions are logically sequenced. Starting
from a stimulating one followed by guide questions that are simply phrased
and will surely lead great exchanges between me and my students. Aside
from this, I also want to work on sounding natural when I manage and
teach a class. Thus, I must strive to become a more communicative
competent teacher in the future.

3. Given the changing characteristics of 21 st century students, what specific

attitudes, values, and ethics should teachers of literature demonstrate? List
the AVEs here and explain only the first 3 answers in your video.

² adaptive
