American Government Essay

Politics is something that is very interesting to study. It prepares us to become one of our nation and
become fully aware of our responsibility as a good citizen. In this activity, it actually serves as a good way for
me to take good actions toward my responsibility as a good citizen because while reading and answering the
questions about the material provided, it gives me a hint that everyone must do something good for our
country even if you are an ordinary citizen. To start answering all the given questions. I gathered information
and search for the things I need just to make all my answers accurate and related to the topics.
Limited government is a government who is permissible in using its authority and are strictly limited in
a way that they cannot really control its people and it could prevent possible manipulation. Otherwise, this
power could be utilized to take away people's freedom, letting it happen can cause harm to the people and
can lead to a certain problem in a country. Liberty is what allows people to be free. When the government
becomes a dictator, its people will be punished in a way that their liberty can be taken away from them and
their life will automatically become miserable. It is important to let the people enjoy their freedom as in this
generation, disregarding the politics, everyone really deserves to do what makes them happy and enjoy their
life. A leader of a country that knows how to respect the freedom of its people has a higher chance to build a
good country and a country that will have less crimes.
Bill of Rights is a reminder for the government how everyone should be treated. As we all know, Bill of
Rights enables people to enjoy things in their life like having freedom of speech, press, and religion. It allows
us to choose what we think is the best and that it is not wrong to do something harmful for people since it is
written by the law that you should not. It protects our own perspectives and we are not abiding the law by
doing that.
Judicial reviews in other hand, is also a way to limit the power of a government just by not letting any
judgment be taken by just a decision of one person. Judicial reviews help an ordinary citizen become defended
by the process of the law to prevent being punished with what is accusing about them. They have the right to
become protected and let the process of the law decides through a legal and valid investigation. In this way, it
gives an ordinary citizen a relief of being protected since things should be taken on a process of the law before
you will be accused of something.
One more is federalism, it limit powers of national government by granting the Congress its power to
levy and collect nationwide taxes for the purpose of funding or paying debts associated with the defense and
general welfare of the country. This means one country is not just fully controlled by the President but also by
its arm and state. There are certain rights given to the people to let them live a life that helps them reach their
goal without the government giving them limitations to do it.
Example of Bill of rights that limit the government's power is that they cannot over accuse people in
crimes, there will be a fair trial in cases that the poor citizen cannot really defend themselves through
providing justice using their money, rights of civil trials can be granted by their citizen, and appropriate
punishments will be delivered to those who deserves to be punished.
Due to power of judicial review the power of the National Government is being limited because it plays
an essential role in ensuring that each branch of government recognizes the limits of its own power It actually
protects civil rights and liberties by striking down laws that violate the Constitution. The Government cannot
really play with any citizen and can turn table if they will not follow the process. This prevents a leader to take
away something to its people and to overuse its power for his own sake. It actually make things in harmony in
one country since things are happening under control of the law and it makes everything fair for everyone.
Examples of federalism that limits the National Government is a system that creates additional checks
and balances. It is very important for a country to have it since it provides each branch of government with
individual powers to check the other branches and prevent any one branch from becoming too powerful. This
actually provides equality for people and prevent anyone to do something for their own motives and can be
the reason for anyone to cause harm and encounter a problem.
For me, these actually helps the America become one of the successful countries in the world since all
of it aims to provide good governance for the people of their nation and to let the government officials work
fairly. Come to think of it, what a country will be if we will have no Bill of Rights? No Judicial Review and
Federalism is not allowed to be implied? War will definitely happen if there will be no control like this
happening to a country. We all deserve to live having freedom and enjoy it as it should be. As the quotation
says, “For to be free is not merely to cast off one's chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the
freedom of others.” Let us all be thankful for the freedom that we are having now. That is because of the
implementation of Bill of Rights, Judicial Review and Federalism in our country.
In all aspects, let us also be thankful for our government who serves their best for us as our country
leaders who gives us the best quality of life while we are living and staying in our country. They all deserve
respect too and we can pay them back through giving importance to the things they have done for us like
making projects to let us live easier and make good decisions for the betterment of our nation.
This actually serves as an eye opener since it makes me see how the government really work hard for
my future as a young learner. Through learning this lesson, I concluded that this lesson is important to know
so it will be easy for us to pay respect to our own National Government.
