1. Introductions
Thank you for purchasing our mini crawler crane "SPT499"; this manual introduces the operation of the crane
and safety tips, and describes the crane reasonable operation and maintenance.
The warnings and forbidden details should be strictly abided by. A lot of accidents are related to not abiding by
the crane safety warnings, inspection and maintenance. Be sure to read this manual before operation, and
understand crane operation steps, inspection and maintenance items. Failing to keep the crane safety operation
procedures may lead to accidents.

maintenance crews must read this manual before work.

2. Crane summary
2.1 Operation instructions
This machine is a portable mini crawler crane which is equipped with rubber tracks and booms. It has two sets
of power supply, and can travel in the working place and hoist within the rated load. It is also a remote control
crane.
2.2 The crane configuration

Slew direction is defined as follows：Looking down the crane from above direction, the clockwise is
dextrorotation and the counterclockwise is levorotation.
2.2 The machine function
（1）Traveling devices

Traveling system is mainly composed of a pair of walking motors, engine, walking operation units and rubber
tracks. In order to ensure the crane passing ability, outriggers can be folded away when traveling or transporting.
This compact design is convenient for crane working in small spaces.
（2）Hoisting devices
Hoisting parts are composed of crane booms, slew devices, hook, winch system and outriggers. Ensure that all
four outriggers ground well before hoisting, then switch working mode to the hoisting gear before work.
（3）Safety devices
Mainly includes: automatic stop for leaving minimum wire rope, overwind alarm, walking rollover alarm,
intelligent voice system, tri-color lamp, safe load moment limiter, working lamp, EMO switch, level, the interlock
between outrigger and boom , three operation modes, data record, intelligent display screen, automatic hook stow,
integrated information control and feedback system.

（1）The numerical which rated load show in the forms, are the maximum lifting weight that the crane can ensure
on the flat and solid ground. The load does not exceed 80% of the tipping load.
（2）The rated load in the forms includes hook and lifting sling weight.
（3）The working range in form3-1a、form3-1b、form3-2a、form3-2b、form3-3a、form3-3b、form5-1a、form5-1b
are amplitude values which include boom deformation. Therefore, hoisting work must be based on working range.
The tipping load of 80% considers 7-level wind, that is wind pressure is at 125N/m2. When it reaches 7-level wind,
the crane can be still allowed to work.

2.2 Left and right handles function

The operating table performs traveling and lifting operation by two electronic control handles (above picture
2.1-A): when the mode switch chooses the traveling gear, the left handle is corresponding to the forward and
backward of the left handle, and the right handle is corresponding to the forward and backward of the right handle,
at the same time, the left and right directions of the handle are invalid.
When the mode switch chooses the lifting gear, the left and the right of left handle corresponds to boom levo
spin and boom dextral spin, and the front and back of left handle corresponds to boom down and boom up. At the
same time, the left and the right of right handle corresponds to boom contracting and boom extension, and the front
and back of right handle corresponds to hook down and hook up (above picture2.1-b).
2.2.1 Left handle
When choosing lifting work mode, the handle controls boom spinning and boom up and downs.
●Anti-clockwise rotating：push the handle to left.
●Middle position：stopping operating handle, and the handle is back to the middle position. At the same time,
boom stops rotating.
●Clockwise rotating：push the handle to right.
●Boom downs：push the handle forward.
boom stops up and downs.
●Boom ups：pull the handle backward.
When choosing traveling work mode, the front and back of handle controls left track forward and backward. At the
same time, the left and right actions are invalid.
●Left track forward：push the handle forward.
●Middle position stopping：stopping operating handle, and the handle is back to the middle position. At the same
time, the track stops.
●Left track backward：pull the handle backward.
2.2.2Right handle
When choosing lifting work mode, the handle controls boom extension and contracting and hook up and downs.
●Boom contracting：push the handle to left.

●Hook down: push the handle forward.
●Middle position：stopping operating handle, and the handle is back to the middle position. At the same time, hook

2.2.3 Press button function
●Force press button
When pressing the forced button, it is in the shielding state such as overweight alarm, over-winding protection,
anti-roll protection and communication failure. The display only shows the current alarm state but does not limit
the output of the action. It is mainly used to bring the crane to the safe area to continue the work by forced button ,
when the crane is overweight or overwind alarm.
●Horn button
It's used to warn people around.
●Hook stow switch
Hook stow and hook down can only be carried out in the lifting mode. When the hook reaches the heavy hammer
position of overwind switch, the crane goes into the overwind protection state, at this point:
Hook stow: press the hook stow switch and push the right handle downward at the same time. The hook continues
rising. Stop operating when the hook reaches the top of the boom. Then loosening press the button and the handle,
hook stow is finished.

Hook down: press the hook stow switch and push the right handle downward at the same time. The hook continues
falling. Stop operating when the hook separates from the overwind switch route. Then loosening the press button
and the handle, hook down is finished.
●Walking high and low speed switch
Low speed: when the button is in normal state, the crane travels in low speed; Make sure the crane is in low speed
gear when it turns.
High speed: press the high and low speed switch, the crane travels in high speed.
2.3 Outrigger operation

2.3.1 Outrigger panel switch function

2.3.2 Outrigger operation steps
●Four dial button switches correspond to four outriggers respectively. Select the external oil cylinder when
pushing forward. Select the inner oil cylinder when pushing backward (as shown in the red part of the label).
●When supporting the outrigger, firstly select the four dial button switches to the position of the inner oil cylinder.
Push the handle forward, and stretch the four outriggers out. Then select the dial button switches to the external oil
cylinder gear, and push the handle forward. Stop when the crane body rises to the appropriate position. Then the
outrigger operation is finished and the crane can hoist(figure 2.3.2-a).
●When putting the outrigger away, firstly select the four dial button switches to the position of the external oil
cylinder. Push the handle backward, and lift the four outriggers up. Then select the dial button switches to the inner
oil cylinder gear, and push the handle backward. Stop when the outriggers retract to the innermost position. Then
fold the outriggers to the crane body. Picking up the crane is finished (figure 2.3.2-b).

●If you need to change working condition, press the “setting up working condition” button, then it enters into
“torque limiter setting up” interface. This interface can set up working condition and ratio：set up the working
condition you need and main boom respectively by 和 .Then set up current working
condition successfully；press to change to the home page, enter into working condition that have set
up, and start to work.

●When it enters into the throttle setting interface, enter the password 5177 and you can query the current throttle
motor signal value.
2.5 The engine and electric motor starting and stopping

2.5.1 Master key switch
The master key switch is the power switch of the whole crane, which can start and stop the engine in the crane body.
Start the engine by following steps:
●When the key is inserted, it is "OFF" gear, and the power supply of the whole crane is disconnected;
●Rotate clockwise to "ON" gear, at this time, the crane body is connected by the electrical power supply, and the
display screen self-checks and shows the current oil level, oil pressure and working condition.
If you need to start the engine, rotate clockwise to ‘START’ gear about 3 seconds. Then loosen the key and reset to
“ON” gear, the engine starts normally; it is forbidden that stays at “START” gear long time and restarts the engine
when it is running. That case will damage the engine.

When the temperature is low, preheats about 5 seconds firstly before starting the engine and then repeat the
operation above: rotate anticlockwise to ‘HEAT” gear, keep it about 5 seconds, loosen the key and return to “OFF”
gear. Then repeat the operation above.
●Stalling of engine：rotate anticlockwise to “OFF’ gear, and the engine stalls.
Attention
1) The engine starting time shall not exceed 5 seconds, which will accelerate the aging of the battery. If it is not
successfully started once, operate it after 1 minute.
2）Check the oil level of the fuel tank before starting, and replenish fuel in time.
3）After the engine is running, confirm whether the engine oil pressure, water temperature and charging indication
on the display screen are normal or not; If there is a fault, stall the engine in time and check the fault point before
use.
2.5.2 Electric motor operation

●Electric motor starting and stopping switch
Plug in the three-phase power supply and press the green starting button, then the motor starts; press the red button
and the motor stops.
●Matters needed attention for motor operation
If the motor fails to start, please open the electronic control box, to check whether the power supply is normal and
the phase sequence protector alarms or not.

2.6 Other operation
（1）Lights switch
Push the dial button switch upward, then the light is on; if push it downward, then the power is off.
（2）Remote control/manual selection switch.
●Remote control mode：push the dial button switch to the “Remote Control" gear, accompanied with voice, at this
time you can open the remote control for work.
●Manual mode：push the dial button switch to the "Manual" gear, accompanied with voice. At this time, it enters
into the operation mode of crane body handle and the remote control cannot be used. The display screen shows the
above two states in real time, as shown in the following chart:

（3）Mode selection switch
●Outrigger gear：choose the outrigger gear and operate outriggers by the dial button switch of the outrigger panel;
At this time the operation of the electric control handle does not output action.
●Traveling gear：Choose the traveling gear, and the front and back direction of two electric control handles control
the left and right track working respectively. At this time, the handle fails in other direction.
●Lifting gear：choose lifting gear, two electric control handles corresponds to the boom gyration, boom ups and
downs, boom extension and contracting, hook rising and falling, and control the boom movement; at this time, the
operation of the outrigger panel does not output action.
（4）Emergency stop
Mainly used for emergencies, press the emergency stop button to stop crane work. After pressing the emergency
stop button:
●the engine stalls
●the electric motor stops
2.7 Voice prompting device

●Remote control mode：prompt to enter into remote control mode currently, and manual can also operate the
handle.
①outrigger mode：prompt to enter into outrigger mode at present, and travelling and lifting no longer control.
②Traveling mode：prompt to enter into traveling mode at present, and outrigger and lifting no longer control.
③Lifting mode：prompt to enter into lifting mode at present, and outrigger and traveling no longer control.
●Manual mode：prompt to enter into manual mode at present, and the remote control no longer output signal.
①outrigger mode：prompt to enter into outrigger mode at present, and travelling and lifting no longer control.
②Traveling mode：prompt to enter into traveling mode at present, and outrigger and lifting no longer control.
③Lifting mode：prompt to enter into lifting mode at present, and outrigger and traveling no longer control.

3. The operation of remote control
K1, K2, K5 and K6 are four composite handles. When choosing the lifting mode, the four handles correspond
to gyration, boom ups and downs, boom extension and contracting, and hook rising and falling. When choosing the
outrigger mode, the four handles correspond to the ①、②、③ and ④ outrigger.
（K1）Gyration handle/outrigger①
When choosing lifting working mode, the handle controls boom rotating.
●Push the handle forward：boom rotates clockwise.
●Middle position：stopping to operate handle, then the handle is back to the middle position, and boom stops
gyration.
●Pull the handle backward：boom rotates anti-clockwise.
When choosing outrigger working mode, the handle controls outrigger1 ups and downs.
●Push the handle forward：outrigger rises up.
●Middle position：stopping to operate handle, then the handle is back to the middle position, and outrigger stops .
●Pull the handle backward：outrigger falls down.
（K2）Boom ups and downs handle/outrigger②
When choosing lifting working mode，the handle controls boom ups and downs.

When choosing lifting working mode，the handle controls hook rising and falling.
●Push the handle forward：hook rises up.
●Middle position：stopping to operate handle, then the handle is back to the middle position, and hook stops rising
and falling.
●Pull the handle backward：hook falls down.
●Middle position：stopping to operate handle, then the handle is back to the middle position, and outrigger stops.

（K3）（K4)left track、right track
The two handles control the crane's forward, backward, left and right turns. It can adjust the traveling speed by
changing the handle range.
●Forward：push the left handle and right handle forward at the same time.
●Stopping：loosen the two handles at the same time. The handles are back to the middle position. The crane brakes
and stops traveling.
●Backward：pull the left handle and right handle backward at the same time.
●Left turn：loosen the left handle, and push the right handle forward.
●Right turn：loosen the right handle, and push the left handle forward.
●Rotating：operate two traveling handles at the opposite direction. The left and right tracks run at the opposite
direction.
（S1) Traveling high and low button
It is used for changing traveling speed, that is high speed and low speed. At the same time, the display screen in the
lower-left corner of operation panel shows the current state. It should be changed to low speed state when turning.
（S2) Horn button
It is used for controlling horn and warning people around.
（S3) Spare button
（S4) Spare button
（S5) engine stalling button
It is used for stalling the engine and cutting off the engine oil supply.
（S6) engine starting button
It is used for starting the engine.
（S8）Force button
Press the forced button, then the overweight alarm, over-winding protection, anti-roll protection and
communication failure of the crane are in shielding state. The display only shows the current alarm state but does
not limit the output of action. It is mainly used to force the crane to the safe area and continue the work when the
crane lifting is overweight and overwind alarms.
（S11)Hook stow/hook down switch

Only when the crane is in lifting mode, it can carry out hook stow and hook down. When the hook reaches the
position of the heavy hammer of the over-winding switch, the crane enters into the over-winding protection state.
At this time:
●Hook stow：Press the hook stow button, and push the handle K6A upward with the other hand at the same time.
The hook continues rising. Stop operation when the hook reaches the top of the boom. The hook stow button and
handle K6 are back to the middle position. Hook stow is finished.
●Hook down：Press the hook down button, and pull the handle K6B downward with the other hand at the same
time. The hook falls down. Stop operation when the hook separates from the heavy hammer of the over-winding
switch. Hook down button and handle K6 are back to the middle position. Hook down is finished.
（S12) Follow-up removing button
When using the remote control, the engine speed changes with the movement range of operating handle: the larger
of the handle range, the higher of the engine speed; the smaller of the range, the lower of the engine speed. When
pressing the follow-up removing button, the engine speed is controlled by the potentiometer (knob 15). The speed
increases when potentiometer knob goes clockwise; the speed decreases when potentiometer knob goes
anti-clockwise.
（SW16) Mode selection switch
●Outrigger gear：when choosing the outrigger gear, the four operation handles K1, K2, K5 and K6 are
corresponding to the①、②、③、④outriggers. They control outriggers ups and downs respectively. At this time, the
operation traveling handle does not output action.

4：The throttle control

The control object is Yanmar engine mechanical throttle lock. The engine speed is 1200-2570rpm. The part of
throttle adjusting and controlling is related to the engine operation effect. It needs a long time to work and has a
high reliability.

outrigger and the grounding limit of the outrigger.

extension limit of the four outriggers has input signal. It is also named that the
outriggers are at the maximum position. Other state are named non-maximum
Anti-rolling position.

grounding. On lifting mode, it can lift only when outriggers ground, or it will

1. Running-in and maintenance
The new crane or overhauled crane must be running-in(test running, lifting) before using, in case of causing
parts early damage and influencing service life.
（1）Preparation before running-in
1） Clean up the crane surface.
2） Check and tighten bolt and nut.
3） Lubricating to each lubrication position according to requirements.
4） Fuel oil, please refer to engine instructions.
5) Hydraulic oil uses L-HM46. Generally, hydraulic oil needs to be changed when the new crane is in
the running-in about 60 hours. In the future, under normal working condition, hydraulic oil needs to be
changed or filtered every 600 hours. The hydraulic oil most service life are two years. Hydraulic oil adds
to that the oil gauge shows full, about 100L.
Hydraulic oil change way：firstly, release the old oil, and clean oil tank by kerosene or pure chemical cleaning
agent. After drying, clean oil tank by new hydraulic oil again. After cleaning, release cleaning oil, and pour into
new oil.

（2）Running-in program
1）Engine is idled about 15min; after starting, it will gradually speed up from low speed.
2）Test travel by forward gear and reverse gear in order to ensuring that traveling has no problem.
3）Set up four outriggers, and test hoisting has no problem.(Test hoisting doesn’t lift too heavy object.)
4）When in the process of testing the crane, observe whether the crane has abnormal voice and leaking oil.
If has, immediately stop the crane and exclude.
2. Lubrication
Lubrication is one of the most important measures which can ensure the crane normal work, prolong parts life,
and increase efficiency and safe production. The maintenance personnel should fully know the importance of
lubrication, often check lubrication condition of each movement point, and regularly fill in lubricating oil to each
movement point. Lubrication parts: the bearings in traveling wheel and drum bearings base, hook pulley, fixed
pulley and rolling bearings of other parts, movable pin shaft of operation system, wire rope and so on.
Lubrication note items:
(1）Keep lubricating oil(grease) clean.
(2）Choose appropriate lubricating oil(grease) to lubricate in schedule time.
(3）Use pressure filling-in grease method(use oil gun or oil pump, rotary-cover oil cup) to add lubricating
grease. This can push lubricating grease to the frication surface, and prevent not going into frication surface
when wiping by hands.
(4）The rotating parts which every unit doesn’t have filling-in oil point, should be regularly filled in oil in
every rotating gap by dilute oil spot. This can decrease parts frication and prevent rusting.
(5）Wire rope must be lubricated on time. Use rag which dipped with kerosene to clean old oil before
lubrication. Absolutely prohibit cleaning the dirt on the wire rope by metal brush or other appliances. And also
absolutely prohibit using acidic or other strong corrosive lubricant. Refer to the charts below:

3. Daily maintenance
The operation person does such matters below each shift or after work.
(1)When no-load test, whether every mechanism running of the machine is normal or not, and whether it has
abnormal voice.
(2)Check whether travel switch is complete and reliable or not.
(3)Check whether the wire rope on the drum and pulley twines round normally or not, and whether it has
jumping from slot, bypass channel, knotting and twisting phenomenon.
(4)Check abrasion condition of wire rope, whether the wire rope has broken wire, and lubrication condition of
wire rope.
(5)Check whether hook is fixed well, and rotating parts are flexible. Check whether it has crack and
stripping condition. Check whether the loose prevention device of the hook nut is complete or not. Hook
dangerous cross section can’t be greater than 5% of the original height.

(6)Check pulley wire rope jumping from slot device. Check whether cover shell is intact, pulley has no crack
and rim has no defect.
(7)Check the fastening of metal structure and transmission part connecting piece.
(8)The moving parts which the crane exposed may hurt people all have shields.
(9)Clean the crane dust each shift. Fully clean the crane every week, and clean out the dirt on it once.
4. The first-class technical maintenance
Carry on technical maintenance every month by maintenance personnel. The contents of checking and
maintenance except daily maintenance, and also include:
(1)Check installation, fixing condition, abrasion and lubricating condition of each pin.
(2)Check whether all bolts have loose and shortage condition.
(3)Check fastening condition of the base of engine, hydraulic pump and so on. And fasten them one by one.
(4)Check abrasion condition of the wire rope of pulley place, and lubricate pulley and pulley shaft.
(5)Check pulley condition. Check whether they are flexible, and whether they have abrasion and crack.
Especially note the abrasion condition of pulley shaft.
(6)Check running condition of the crane. It should not happen the phenomenon when starting and stopping,
such as twisting.
(7)Check the liquid level height of electrolyte of battery. Liquid level exceeds 10-15mm of electrode plate.
(8)Check whether oil tube joint point has oil leak. Exclude oil leak phenomenon.
(9)Check working condition of oil pump and motor. They should have no abnormal voice, and their
temperatures are normal.
5. The second-class technical maintenance
5.1 Check and maintain once every year by maintenance personnel. Except month-check
contents, it also includes:
(1)Check the condition of supporting wheel and tension wheel. Lubricate to the bearings of supporting wheel
and tension wheel.

(2)Check whether each main weld of boom and crane body has open welding and corrosion phenomenon. The
corrosion can’t exceed 10% of original plate thickness. Check whether each main stressed part has fatigue crack,
and whether every kind of latch and bracket is intact. Check boom bolt and fasten them again.
(3)Check the deformation condition of boom.
(4)Clean up oil filter of hydraulic system, and keep oil way fluent.
(5)Check the drum condition. Drum wall abrasion can’t exceed 20% of original wall thickness. The convex
peak of rope slot shouldn’t become sharp.
(6)Tighten all the connecting bolts of the crane and fasten the bolts.
(7)Check the working condition of hydraulic cylinder. Hydraulic cylinder shouldn’t have retraction, infiltrating
oil and beating phenomenon.
(8)Clean out the impurities in hydraulic oil tank, such as oil sludge precipitation.
5.2 Maintenance of the tracks
Rubber tracks are important parts of crane traveling mechanism, and its price is very expensive. The service
life of rubber tracks, to a large degree, depends on working environment and using method. The owner must
pay great attention to the early abrasion prevention of rubber tracks. The methods are as below:
(1)Attention to working environment
1）The rubber tracks should avoid the touch with kinds of oil, such as engine oil, diesel and lubricating grease.
It also should avoid the touch with chemicals, such as acid, alkali and salt. If happening the above situation, it
needs to be cleaned up and out in time.
2）Rubber tracks should avoid traveling on uneven road which has sharp and raised stones, steel bar and other
things. If necessary, the road can be laid with wooden board and other flat objects.
3）Rubber tracks should avoid long-distance traveling on the gravel and rubble road. This can easily cause
early abrasion of rubber tracks surface. If traveling far, the crane should be moved by loading vehicles.
(2)Master correct using method
1）Rubber tracks should be maintained and cleaned after using, in case of accelerated abrasion and corrosion
of rubber tracks.
2）Reduce sharp turn as soon as possible when traveling. Sharp turn easily causes off-wheel and damages
tracks, and brings that guide wheel or guide rails hit iron core to cause the iron core falling off.

3）Often check the abrasion condition of driving wheel, guide wheel and supporting wheel. Heavy driving
wheel abrasion makes gap increasing when the teeth of driving wheel drives with iron core mesh, and produces
larger impact force. When it is serious, it may hook the iron core out. The driving wheel, guide wheel and
supporting wheel which have serious abrasion should be changed in time.
4）It is not suitable to be inclined to walk on the slope road, not suitable for across bridge type walking, not suitable
for frication walking on steps edge, not suitable for forced climbing steps walking and so on. All these abnormal
traveling can lead to abnormal damage, such as damage of tracks patterns, iron core broken, tracks edge cut,
fracture of steel wire and cord and so on.
(3)Attention to the adjustment of rubber tracks tension degree
Rubber tracks must always maintain normal tension degree. They should not be too loose or too tight. Too loose
tension force easily causes the track derailment, and the guide wheel and the loading wheel riding teeth. Too tight
tension force easily causes that tracks generate larger tension, which will lead to tracks elongation, tracks pitch
change, and produces high pressure surface in some places, resulting in iron core and driving wheel accelerated
abrasion. Often pay attention, check and adjust when using. The adjustment should be carried out on the flat hard
ground (cement floor). Support the crane rack with hydraulic pressure, loosen the track tension nut, adjust to the
required clearance between loading wheel and tracks, and then fasten and lock the nut.
