1. Introductions
Thank you for purchasing our mini crawler crane "SPT499"; this manual introduces the operation of the crane
and safety tips, and describes the crane reasonable operation and maintenance.
The warnings and forbidden details should be strictly abided by. A lot of accidents are related to not abiding by
the crane safety warnings, inspection and maintenance. Be sure to read this manual before operation, and

2. Crane summary
2.1 Operation instructions
This machine is a portable mini crawler crane which is equipped with rubber tracks and booms. It has two sets
of power supply, and can travel in the working place and hoist within the rated load. It is also a remote control
crane.

Traveling system is mainly composed of a pair of walking motors, engine, walking operation units and rubber
tracks. In order to ensure the crane passing ability, outriggers can be folded away when traveling or transporting.
(2)Hoisting devices
Hoisting parts are composed of crane booms, slew devices, hook, winch system and outriggers. Ensure that all
four outriggers ground well before hoisting, then switch working mode to the hoisting gear before work.
(3)Safety devices
Mainly includes: automatic stop for leaving minimum wire rope, overwind alarm, walking rollover alarm,
intelligent voice system, tri-color lamp, safe load moment limiter, working lamp, EMO switch, level, the interlock
between outrigger and boom , three operation modes, data record, intelligent display screen, automatic hook stow,

●Four dial button switches correspond to four outriggers respectively. Select the external oil cylinder when
pushing forward. Select the inner oil cylinder when pushing backward (as shown in the red part of the label).

●When it enters into the throttle setting interface, enter the password 5177 and you can query the current throttle
The master key switch is the power switch of the whole crane, which can start and stop the engine in the crane body.
●When the key is inserted, it is "OFF" gear, and the power supply of the whole crane is disconnected;
●Rotate clockwise to "ON" gear, at this time, the crane body is connected by the electrical power supply, and the
display screen self-checks and shows the current oil level, oil pressure and working condition.
If you need to start the engine, rotate clockwise to ‘START’ gear about 3 seconds. Then loosen the key and reset to
“ON” gear, the engine starts normally; it is forbidden that stays at “START” gear long time and restarts the engine

When the temperature is low, preheats about 5 seconds firstly before starting the engine and then repeat the
operation above: rotate anticlockwise to ‘HEAT” gear, keep it about 5 seconds, loosen the key and return to “OFF”

The two handles control the crane's forward, backward, left and right turns. It can adjust the traveling speed by

It is used for changing traveling speed, that is high speed and low speed. At the same time, the display screen in the
lower-left corner of operation panel shows the current state. It should be changed to low speed state when turning.
It is used for stalling the engine and cutting off the engine oil supply.
(S8)Force button
Press the forced button, then the overweight alarm, over-winding protection, anti-roll protection and
communication failure of the crane are in shielding state. The display only shows the current alarm state but does
not limit the output of action. It is mainly used to force the crane to the safe area and continue the work when the

Only when the crane is in lifting mode, it can carry out hook stow and hook down. When the hook reaches the
position of the heavy hammer of the over-winding switch, the crane enters into the over-winding protection state.
At this time:
●Hook stow:Press the hook stow button, and push the handle K6A upward with the other hand at the same time.
The hook continues rising. Stop operation when the hook reaches the top of the boom. The hook stow button and
●Hook down:Press the hook down button, and pull the handle K6B downward with the other hand at the same
time. The hook falls down. Stop operation when the hook separates from the heavy hammer of the over-winding
switch. Hook down button and handle K6 are back to the middle position. Hook down is finished.
When using the remote control, the engine speed changes with the movement range of operating handle: the larger
of the handle range, the higher of the engine speed; the smaller of the range, the lower of the engine speed. When
pressing the follow-up removing button, the engine speed is controlled by the potentiometer (knob 15). The speed
increases when potentiometer knob goes clockwise; the speed decreases when potentiometer knob goes
anti-clockwise.
●Outrigger gear:when choosing the outrigger gear, the four operation handles K1, K2, K5 and K6 are
corresponding to the①、②、③、④outriggers. They control outriggers ups and downs respectively. At this time, the

The new crane or overhauled crane must be running-in(test running, lifting) before using, in case of causing

the running-in about 60 hours. In the future, under normal working condition, hydraulic oil needs to be
changed or filtered every 600 hours. The hydraulic oil most service life are two years. Hydraulic oil adds
Hydraulic oil change way:firstly, release the old oil, and clean oil tank by kerosene or pure chemical cleaning
agent. After drying, clean oil tank by new hydraulic oil again. After cleaning, release cleaning oil, and pour into
new oil.

(2)Running-in program
1)Engine is idled about 15min; after starting, it will gradually speed up from low speed.
2)Test travel by forward gear and reverse gear in order to ensuring that traveling has no problem.
3)Set up four outriggers, and test hoisting has no problem.(Test hoisting doesn’t lift too heavy object.)
4)When in the process of testing the crane, observe whether the crane has abnormal voice and leaking oil.
2. Lubrication
Lubrication is one of the most important measures which can ensure the crane normal work, prolong parts life,
and increase efficiency and safe production. The maintenance personnel should fully know the importance of
lubrication, often check lubrication condition of each movement point, and regularly fill in lubricating oil to each
movement point. Lubrication parts: the bearings in traveling wheel and drum bearings base, hook pulley, fixed
pulley and rolling bearings of other parts, movable pin shaft of operation system, wire rope and so on.
(3)Use pressure filling-in grease method(use oil gun or oil pump, rotary-cover oil cup) to add lubricating
grease. This can push lubricating grease to the frication surface, and prevent not going into frication surface
(4)The rotating parts which every unit doesn’t have filling-in oil point, should be regularly filled in oil in
every rotating gap by dilute oil spot. This can decrease parts frication and prevent rusting.
(5)Wire rope must be lubricated on time. Use rag which dipped with kerosene to clean old oil before
lubrication. Absolutely prohibit cleaning the dirt on the wire rope by metal brush or other appliances. And also
absolutely prohibit using acidic or other strong corrosive lubricant. Refer to the charts below:

3. Daily maintenance
The operation person does such matters below each shift or after work.
(1)When no-load test, whether every mechanism running of the machine is normal or not, and whether it has
abnormal voice.
(3)Check whether the wire rope on the drum and pulley twines round normally or not, and whether it has
(4)Check abrasion condition of wire rope, whether the wire rope has broken wire, and lubrication condition of
wire rope.
(5)Check whether hook is fixed well, and rotating parts are flexible. Check whether it has crack and
stripping condition. Check whether the loose prevention device of the hook nut is complete or not. Hook

(6)Check pulley wire rope jumping from slot device. Check whether cover shell is intact, pulley has no crack
(7)Check the fastening of metal structure and transmission part connecting piece.
(8)The moving parts which the crane exposed may hurt people all have shields.
(9)Clean the crane dust each shift. Fully clean the crane every week, and clean out the dirt on it once.
Carry on technical maintenance every month by maintenance personnel. The contents of checking and
(1)Check installation, fixing condition, abrasion and lubricating condition of each pin.
(3)Check fastening condition of the base of engine, hydraulic pump and so on. And fasten them one by one.
(4)Check abrasion condition of the wire rope of pulley place, and lubricate pulley and pulley shaft.
(5)Check pulley condition. Check whether they are flexible, and whether they have abrasion and crack.
(6)Check running condition of the crane. It should not happen the phenomenon when starting and stopping,
such as twisting.

(2)Check whether each main weld of boom and crane body has open welding and corrosion phenomenon. The
corrosion can’t exceed 10% of original plate thickness. Check whether each main stressed part has fatigue crack,
and whether every kind of latch and bracket is intact. Check boom bolt and fasten them again.
(4)Clean up oil filter of hydraulic system, and keep oil way fluent.
(5)Check the drum condition. Drum wall abrasion can’t exceed 20% of original wall thickness. The convex

Rubber tracks are important parts of crane traveling mechanism, and its price is very expensive. The service
life of rubber tracks, to a large degree, depends on working environment and using method. The owner must
pay great attention to the early abrasion prevention of rubber tracks. The methods are as below:
1)The rubber tracks should avoid the touch with kinds of oil, such as engine oil, diesel and lubricating grease.
It also should avoid the touch with chemicals, such as acid, alkali and salt. If happening the above situation, it

things. If necessary, the road can be laid with wooden board and other flat objects.
3)Rubber tracks should avoid long-distance traveling on the gravel and rubble road. This can easily cause
early abrasion of rubber tracks surface. If traveling far, the crane should be moved by loading vehicles.
1)Rubber tracks should be maintained and cleaned after using, in case of accelerated abrasion and corrosion
of rubber tracks.
2)Reduce sharp turn as soon as possible when traveling. Sharp turn easily causes off-wheel and damages
tracks, and brings that guide wheel or guide rails hit iron core to cause the iron core falling off.

3)Often check the abrasion condition of driving wheel, guide wheel and supporting wheel. Heavy driving
wheel abrasion makes gap increasing when the teeth of driving wheel drives with iron core mesh, and produces
larger impact force. When it is serious, it may hook the iron core out. The driving wheel, guide wheel and

tension force easily causes the track derailment, and the guide wheel and the loading wheel riding teeth. Too tight
tension force easily causes that tracks generate larger tension, which will lead to tracks elongation, tracks pitch
change, and produces high pressure surface in some places, resulting in iron core and driving wheel accelerated
abrasion. Often pay attention, check and adjust when using. The adjustment should be carried out on the flat hard
ground (cement floor). Support the crane rack with hydraulic pressure, loosen the track tension nut, adjust to the
required clearance between loading wheel and tracks, and then fasten and lock the nut.
