1. Look at the umbilicus. Is it red or draining pus? Does the
redness extend to the skin?
2. Measure temperature (or feel for fever or loew body
temperature)
3. Look for skin pustules. Are there many or severe
pustules?
4. See if the young infant is abnormally sleepy or difficult to
awaken?
Give IRON

Give MEBENDAZOLE
 Hookworm/ whipworm are a problem in children in your area, and
 The child is 2 years of age or older, and
 he child has not had a dose in the previous 6 months.
