WORKSHEET # 2: INTERVIEWING FOR
EMPATHY
CHALLENGE: SDG #11-Sustainable Cities and Communities: Waste Management
Good morning/afternoon/ evening! Thank you very much for lending your time for this interview. I am Kevin Villarante student of Foundation University and I am here to conduct an
interview regarding garbage disposal and repurposing. Rest assured that all the information you share will be treated with highest confidentiality and will only be shared by persons that
are directly related to the project. I want to inform you that I will be taking note of your responses as part of the documentation. Again thank you very much for your time.

Do you know where your household garbage goes?

Have you any idea about the current status of your local sanitary landfill?

Have you encountered or be part of any project that involves recycling or garbage repurposing? If yes, how does it feel?

Have you tried purchasing recycled products?

If yes, how does it feel? If no, are you willing to buy one?

If yes, how does it feel?

Did it serve its purpose? Why? What are you looking for for a recycled product?

If these characteristics of a recycled product will be met will you buy one?

What could you suggest to make a recycled product worthy of buying?

Bandoles, Marie Gem

Do you know where your household garbage goes?

• Yes, garbage are thrown in disposal sites.
Have you any idea about the current status of your local sanitary landfill?
• I honestly don’t have any idea because usually the garbage collectors just collect the garbage in our
neighborhood.
Have you encountered or be part of any project that involves recycling or garbage repurposing? If yes,
how does it feel?
• When I was in Junior high school, we had a project on recycling and I made a pillow made up of cut
plastics that was put together and I was happy with the outcome of my product.
Have you tried purchasing recycled products?
• No, but I am willing to buy.
What are you looking for a recycled product?
• I think I would want a recycled product that’s durable and useful.
If these characteristics of a recycled product will be met, will you buy one?
• Yes
What could you suggest to make a recycled product worthy of buying?
• I would suggest it to be durable.
JOILYN ABEJERO
1.Do you know where your household garbage goes?
-I have no idea where that garbage is brought to but I do love to know because I am really curious.
2. Have you any idea about the current status of your local sanitary landfill?
-Sadly, I don’t have an idea.
3.Have you encountered or be part of any project that involves recycling or garbage repurposing? If yes, how does it
feel?
-Back then, when I was in Grade 4, we collected some plastic bottles from our homes and then we brought it in
school. Our teacher demonstrated on what are we going to do about the plastic bottles. We followed her and then
after, we created a flower out of the plastic bottles. (We pointed it to make it more realistic)
4.Have you tried purchasing recycled products?
-No, I haven’t purchased a recycled product yet but I am willing to buy one, I think they are cute and unique.
-Yes, definitely I will buy one.
5.What are you looking for a recycled product?
-I look forward to 3 things when it comes to recycled products. First is quality, second is uniqueness and third is
price.
6.What could you suggest to make a recycled product worthy of buying?
-When you buy recycled you are helping the local economy and the environment. You already know that recycling
keeps useful materials from going to waste in landfills.
Michelle C. Umalay

- No
Have you tried purchasing recycled products?
-No
If no, are you willing to buy one?
- Yes, I am willing to buy recycled products because all recycled products help to maintain a cleaner and healthier
planet.
What are you looking for for a recycled product?
- Plastic bottle cut in a half and design it to make it a pencil holder

HOW MIGHT WE...(Creating Oppurtunities)

We will be able to help our users by creating repurposed products out of waste. Products that are
durable, aesthetics, and cost friendly. While creating the products we will collaborate with local and
national artist and creators to promote the project and the cause as well as promoting filipino art and
products, and also creating livelihood for the locals. Along the way, the project will continously inform
the public about waste managment and the current status of their landfill. On top of it, we will be able to
lessen the waste dumped in to the sanitary landfill, and also reducing the harmful effects of the garbage
in the environment.
