Problem Statement : Empathize
• What is happening? The waste from households is a burden on the local bodies and is also harmful in
many ways. Irresponsible disposal by people dumping in any nook and cranny and
then complaining that municipality isn't cleaning up after them!

• How is it affecting ? The organic waste is to be segregated by the citizens and then is transferred to the
municipal body bins just to dump it again without treating or segregating it.
Improper segregation - once mixed it can't be fixed - soiled newspaper, paper,
certain types of plastics can't be recycled if damaged, wet or mixed with
food/poop.

On the basis of what and how, it is clear that the biodegradable waste segregated in
• Why is it affecting? the first place, is just to dump it together in the end leading to waste of time and
efforts of segregating it in the first place.

• By using the extra containers for dry and wet

waste in our society.
• And kindly put a banner in which the
instructions would be written down like
1. Separately throw your wet and dry waste
2. Please throw the waste inside the bin instead
of outside the container

how I’ll do (i.e) using two separate
containers for wet and dry waste
 Testing

• Had a discussion with the people in our society about

the problem of waste disposal and made them
understood how it is important to separate dry and
wet waste .
• Garbage bags were distributed and told them to use
two separate bags for dry and wet waste
 Implement / Feedback

Implement
• Before only single container was used by
society members to throw their garbage and
it was so difficult for the municipality person
to clean and separate the waste
• Applied wet and dry waste stickers on the
bins so the segregated waste be thrown
properly in the given container

Feedback
•Society members gave me a positive
feedback.
•They assure to convey this awareness to
others society’s in locality because they are
also facing the same problem.
Future Plans

• I’ll make sure this problem won’t arise again in near future.

• This problem is faced by so many other society /locality ,etc

• I would go and discuss the issue and suggest solution in other

society’s as well
