Waves of Change

You have researched a specific feminist activist, explored the context and meaning of feminism, read about the
different waves within the feminist movement, and now it is time to piece all these elements together.

You will be writing a two paragraph response connecting and supporting your researched woman, and the
wave of feminism she was part of.

There are certain elements which need to be present within your writing and paragraphs so be sure to use the
following information to help guide your writing, and make sure all elements are present. This is a formal
response, therefore make sure you proofread your work carefully, and submit your best work. Your writing

Do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions.

Paragraph 1:
This is your brief introduction to what you currently understand and know about feminism, addressing and
focusing around the definition you and your group generated together based on your research, as well as
acknowledging the fact there have been different waves within the movement, and influential women
throughout these subsects.

This paragraph provides context for your writing, and should end with the last sentence as your thesis
statement.

Your thesis should address who your woman is and what wave of feminism she was/is part of.

Paragraph 2:
This is where you need to draw, provide, and explain the connections supporting your thesis.

You should be addressing

● The major focus and ideals of that particular wave of feminism. How is this era identifiable?
○ When was this?
○ What was being fought for?
○ What was the main focus and want of feminists in that time?
● The connection between the woman and the wave
○ What were her ideals and how did they connect to this wave?
○ What did she specifically do to support and advocate for these rights?
● Provide clear reasoning showing the importance and connection of these elements

Your paragraph must also include TWO CITED pieces of evidence, which support the claim/thesis. Please
remember reasoning must follow each piece of evidence.

***Please note, you may need to complete additional research if you need more specific information which
