the board. You will work with your partner in a pair. You will pick a destination and read
the description about the destination. You can view them from page 7 to page 13.
3. Now you will follow the example. Each pair will plan a trip considering a few points
below. Students will need to refer to the example on page 5. (allow about three to four
minutes)
Destination: We are going to go to Yunnan. Yunnan is beautiful in Summer.
Transportation: We are going there by plane.
Cities: We are going to visit Lijiang, Xishuangbanna

 You will convince them to go with you to the destination you chose.
 You will invite them to go with you.
 Make sure you tell them everything about the trip following the sample
conversation on page 3.
 Ask students to read the sample conversation with their partner first. (allow two –
three minutes)
 If I have 14 students in my class. I put them into As and Bs. Each student will be
given a number. Then, you have 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A, 6A, 7A and
1B,2B,3B,4B,5B,6B,7B. A will be the inviters. B will be the invitees’. 1A-1B,
2A-2B, 3A-3B, 4A-4B, 5A-5B, 6A-6B,7A-7B. (allow five minutes for each round
of meeting). Students will go clockwise and swap partners. As stay where they
are. Bs stand up and move in the clockwise direction.
 Bs as invitees will need to score how good the inviters’ plan is and give a final
score. You can refer to the scoring sheet on page 4. After each round of meeting,
ask them to give a final score.
 To give them a bit of a challenge, ask students to follow the conversation for the
first time and the second time. (you can decide how much time you need to be
ready to go out of paper). I ask students not to look at their paper the third time.
They will need to look at their partners in their eyes and make eye contact when
they speak.
 Last round, ask students what festival is coming up. In China, this time of year, it
is time to celebrate the Moon Festival(it is a national holiday in China). Ask them
to stand up and mingle. Make sure they have nothing in their hands and do a real
conversation.
 At the end, students can vote for which plan is the best.
