The teacher as a catalyst

Teachers have a variety of tasks in terms of aiding students and carrying out their own responsibilities in
the classroom. Furthermore, due to a variety of circumstances such as methodological advancements or
technological advancements, a teacher's function may alter. Prospective teachers agree that the teacher
should be a role model and catalyst in the classroom, yet they claim that their former English professors
used standard teaching methods. They also stated that their mentor teachers used traditional teaching
techniques. The teacher, in my opinion, is best defined as a catalyst, just being present causes things to
happen. Students in class genuinely conversing to each other, actively discussing course material, and
cooperating on group presentations are all examples of what a catalyst may do. Teachers appear to be
acting as a catalyst in the present improvements by supporting and motivating students. The term
catalyst teacher is used in this study to define the job of the teacher, and the role of the teacher as a
catalyst is studied from the perspective of prospective teachers. A teacher's role as a catalyst is to get
students to communicate to each other in small groups, provide appropriate discussion topics for their
discussions, and give mini lectures on good group practices and avoidable hazards.
