To reach an international agreement on
research priorities in the areas of physical
activity and sedentary behavior in children
and adolescents.
 
Findings   Conclusions
 The primary outcome of the study was a
ranked set of 29 research priorities that
aimed to be applicable for the next
10 years. The top three ranked priorities
were: developing effective and sustainable
interventions to increase children’s
physical activity long-term; policy and/or
environmental change and their influence
on children’s physical activity and
sedentary behavior; and prospective,
longitudinal studies of the independent
effects of physical activity and sedentary
behavior on health.
 
Two separate panels of 12 experts each went
through three rounds of Delphi technique.
The Delphi technique required experts to
anonymously respond to questions posed by
researchers, with feedback supplied in
between rounds.
  
This study engaged two panels of study
experts in a three-round Delphi
communication procedure. The outcome of
this procedure was the identification of a
ranked set of 29 research priorities in child
and adolescent physical activity and
sedentary behavior. For example, the top
three ranked priorities were: developing
effective and sustainable interventions to
increase children’s physical activity long-
term; policy and/or environmental change
and their influence on children’s physical
activity and sedentary behavior; and
prospective, longitudinal studies of the
independent effects of physical activity and
sedentary behavior on health. We hope
these research priorities will help inform
the spectrum of future studies undertaken,
guide post-graduate study choices, guide
allocation of funding to priority areas and
assist with policy decisions.

How are the findings of this research useful to teachers? 

- It will assist teachers in comprehending that children's physical activities are

beneficial to their development and will assist them in comprehending their
behavior.

C. It is said that because teachers are overloaded with work, they usually frown on
the conduct of research. Reflect on the consequences of this attitude. What can be
done to prevent this? Write your reflection here for at least 5-7 sentences.   

- Since teachers are capable of conducting such research, some are losing
interest because they are tended to conduct research even though they have
a lot of duties, responsibilities, and they are overloaded with work as well. I
believe this is a stress to them, so making time for research is such a
challenge nowadays. It is difficult to manage time because we are all
bombarded with a load of works and requirements to do. The burden is
already there since teachers are tended to conduct research. I believe that
the only way to avoid this is to control your time (time management) or multi-
task.
