PROBLEM STATEMENT

“Penalties against possession of a drug should not be more damaging to

an individual than the use of the drug itself; and where they are, they
should be changed. Nowhere is this more clear than in the laws against
possession of marijuana in private for personal use…”
—Jimmy Carter
PROBLEM STATEMENT
The war on drugs started in the early 70s, introduced by Richard Nixon in
the U.S.A, as a way to mitigate the risks that these substances produce
to the users and society.
the idea that making substances illegal would stop the retail and
consumption of them seems to not give the intended results.
●Drugs are extremely profitable.
●Stress in institutions, police, jails, governments, military.
●High expense for the government and taxpayers.
●has not been able to reduce consumption.
●Has not been able to reduce risk for the consumer.
● Increased violence related to drugs.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
● A drug is any substance capable of altering the normal functioning of
an organism.
● No substance is either good or bad in itself, the use made of them is
what would determine its consequences.
● Some substances are more harmful than others.
● Some substances are really harmful for the consumers and the
society around them
● There are great opportunities for business and destinations

Conclusions
CONCLUSIONS
Drugs are dangerous
You can’t stop humans from using drugs
The prohibition only makes maers worse
Several industries including tourism can receive great benefits
Strong regulation and jurisdiction is required to solve the fundamental
issues of prohibition
A destination can become aractive in the tourism sector just by a
regulation on cannabis but aractions have to be created to
dierentiate from other destinations
