6. Think about an academic subject that inspires you.

Describe how you have furthered this

interest inside and/or outside of the classroom.

Psychology, for something I love so fervently, it is entirely too difficult to describe how my love
for it formed. You could pinpoint it to the moment I discovered I had anxiety. Even to the moment
I was forced to get a therapist by my mother after my uncle died. Though, Psychology to me is
so much more than those moments. Weirdly enough, my fascination within Psychology,
specifically Occupational Psychology, rose due to the media I was provided with. I discovered a
Television show about a young boy with Autism and his struggle to be independent. Through
this, I realized I want to help people who struggle with similar issues, especially since they are
extremely overlooked. When I got to high school, I knew I wanted to be a Psychologist, but
there were not many ways for me to reach my potential at the school I attended. After I moved,
there was a new broader range of classes that seemed fulfilling, but due to online classes, I was
too scared to try to reach my potential with Psychology. It wasn’t until my junior year that I was
able to take classes that truly interested me. Though AP Psychology has been one of the most
rigorous classes I’ve had to take within these past three years, I wouldn’t change my experience
whatsoever. I was able to discover more about the mind and the processes of the human body
more than I have in my entire life, and my love and desire to learn psychology has risen
exponentially due to this course. Mr. Moore has taught me more about myself and others more
than any other teacher I’ve ever had. From Frued to the Stanford Prison Experiment, there is so
much I still am yet to discover about the human mind and all of its ventures throughout history. I
wish to advance my knowledge and gain a better understanding of the human mind and each of
its imperfections in my future endeavors. As different as every single person is, I will be glad to
make even the smallest effect in their lives. (350 words)
