 Supervision to erection and commissioning
In the following pages the details.

The technical specifications of the equipment are based on DANIELI's sound experience in the design
and realization of cranes in operation in steel shops.
During the executive phase of engineering they will be made some small modifications that however not
change the characteristics and the performances of the equipment.
This modifications will be however ready marked.

3. CODES, STANDARDS AND CLASSIFICATION

3.7 CONTROL DEVICES

Enclosed operator's CAB

AIR CONDITIONED CABIN

The operator's cab will have the

following features:
• Roof suspension
• Closed design
• Safety double–walled windows
• Heat and noise insulation
• Full vision front
• Air conditioning unit
• Double-hinged door with window
• Access via stairway
• Rotating pulpit

This is the control station which provides an effective

scientifically-tested answer to the persistent crane
operator lower back stress and pain.

Danieli Centro Cranes utilizes an extremely strong

structure with a shock-absorbing system.

The new Dynamic Control Station reduces overall stress,

including, as a consequence, reduction of the lower back
lumbar load. CONTROL
Lumbar stress has always been one of the main causes
of strain, loss of productivity and development of functional muscular disorders associated with crane
operation.
The driver’s working posture is now ergonomic and completely different from the traditional method.
In this way the problem has finally been properly addressed.

If the evaporator for the air-condition will mounted in the ceiling, there has to
be 1,9m free height under the evaporator.
The cabin will be equipped with an instructor seat, trash can, holder for a coffee
mug and sufficient coat hooks and shelf’s for personal belongings.
The cabin will be equipped with:
• Minimum to pieces of 230V socket
• Fluorescent lamp (2 x 18 W)

All the dimensions of the crane will be checked as per approved general arrangement drawings. Diagonal
measurement of the crane and trolley will also be carried out in the fabrication shops before dispatch to
site.

No Load Test
“No load test” will be performed with the crane assembled for three separate components:
 end carriages and bridges
 Trolley
 Cabin

6.3 TESTS AT SITE

After erection but before the crane is connected to the power supply, the insulation of the electrical
equipment will be tested and any revealed defect will be rectified.
After the power supply is connected, the following tests will be carried out:

Height of lift
Measuring the length of the hook travel from its topmost position to the bottom position will check height
of lift and this will not be less than the specified lift.

Speed tests
a) All the motions of the crane will be tested with rated load and the rated speeds will be attained within
the accepted tolerance limits.
b) All the motions of the crane will be tested with 20% overload in which case the rated speeds need not
be attained but the crane will show itself capable of dealing with the overload without difficulty.

Brake tests
a) The hoist brakes will be tested so as to enable to brake the movement under all conditions without any
sudden jerk on the load.
b) The long and cross travel brakes will be capable of arresting the motion within a distance in meters
equal to 10% of the rated speed in meters/minute.

Limit switches
All movements are equipped with stop limit switches, lowering down and stop

Deflection test
The deflection of the bridge girder will not exceed 1/1000 of span for the crane with the rated load (on
trolley at rest) at mid span. The datum line for measuring the deflection would be obtained by placing the
empty trolley at mid crane span.

Load test
The load test will be carried out with a load equal to 140% of rated working load, verifying that after the
overload application there aren’t permanent distortions.

6.4 PERFORMANCE GUARANTEE

Speed and acceleration

Test procedure
Tests will be carried out with trolley in middle span position and a test load equal to crane rated load.

Guaranteed values at rated load

Girder deflection test ( as reference )

Test procedure
Tests will be carried out with trolley in middle span position using a test load equal to crane rated load.
Level 3 of points will be measured in condition (A) and in condition (B), deflection of girder will be
calculated with formula (C).
Condition (A): unloaded trolley in central span position.
Condition (B): trolley in central span position with suspended rated load.
