In the following pages the details.
The technical specifications of the equipment are based on DANIELI's sound experience in the design
and realization of cranes in operation in steel shops.
During the executive phase of engineering they will be made some small modifications that however not
change the characteristics and the performances of the equipment.
This modifications will be however ready marked.
3.2 CLASSIFICATION

hard work for the use cycles and the previewed hours of operation for the several classes of plan.
Steel structures and mechanisms will be designed according ”Fatigue stress verification”
Mechanical Drives

The calculation of rope drives will be in accordance with FEM to ensure an adequate degree of safety of
operation of the lifting appliance and to achieve an adequate service life for the wire ropes used.
The relation of rope diameter to rope sheave diameter respectively rope drum diameter will be according
to the relevant FEM standards.
Materials
The strength of the material used will be in accordance with FEM rules.
In normal cases all stress-bearing elements up to 30 mm thickness shall be fabricated of S275 JR EN

Inspections
The Purchaser will have the rights to inspect the design, the quality of the work, the quality of the
materials used and the parts of the equipment by his authorized representatives, both during manufacture
and when completed, after checking and inspection.
Tests
Test provided in the Contract other than Performance Tests, will be carried out the Supplier or sub-
supplier’s facilities and during normal working hours. In workshop load tests will not be executed.
Manufacturing tolerances
Dimensional check of the cranes will be based on the following manufacturing tolerances:
DANIELI standard manufacturing plan
FEM 1.001 booklet 8 3rd Edition 1998
Dimensional Check
All the dimensions of the crane will be checked as per approved general arrangement drawings. Diagonal
measurement of the crane and trolley will also be carried out in the fabrication shops before dispatch to
site.
No Load Test
“No load test” will be performed with the crane assembled for three separate components:
end carriages and bridges
Trolley
Cabin
Height of lift
Measuring the length of the hook travel from its topmost position to the bottom position will check height
of lift and this will not be less than the specified lift.
Speed tests
a) All the motions of the crane will be tested with rated load and the rated speeds will be attained within
the accepted tolerance limits.
b) All the motions of the crane will be tested with 20% overload in which case the rated speeds need not
be attained but the crane will show itself capable of dealing with the overload without difficulty.
Brake tests
a) The hoist brakes will be tested so as to enable to brake the movement under all conditions without any
sudden jerk on the load.
b) The long and cross travel brakes will be capable of arresting the motion within a distance in meters
equal to 10% of the rated speed in meters/minute.
Limit switches
All movements are equipped with stop limit switches, lowering down and stop
Deflection test
The deflection of the bridge girder will not exceed 1/1000 of span for the crane with the rated load (on
trolley at rest) at mid span. The datum line for measuring the deflection would be obtained by placing the
empty trolley at mid crane span.
Load test
The load test will be carried out with a load equal to 140% of rated working load, verifying that after the
overload application there aren’t permanent distortions.
