Lesson Plan Project

Lesson Goals or Learning Targets (Word these as measurable student outcomes.)

Learning target is to learn how to write a diamanté poem as a synonym

Lesson Objectives or Success Criteria (Word these as student actions, use verbs.)

Take notes while explaining what a diamante poem is and the format of a diamanté poem. As
well as taking notes on what nouns, verbs, and adjectives are . Then they will write their own
final draft poem and draw and color an image related to their topic from their poem.

Lesson Plan Content (Written narrative paragraph about the lesson plan)
The lesson plan content contains the information of the type of poem form a Diamanté is,
what consists inside a Diamanté poem and the structure behind the poem as well. We will
also go into describing and learning what a noun, verb and adjective is that is needed in the
poem. After learning the context of the poem, I will show an example of a Diamanté poem, so
that the students can visually see what the final outcome should look like. When everything is
done I will hand out a handout of a diamond shaped outline that will be their final draft where
they will write their poem and draw and color their image that goes with their poem.

Instructional Procedures

● Focusing Event (Describe how you will get students to focus attention on your teaching.)

The students will be taking notes on the form of poetry being learned, I will not leave
instructions on the handout because they will have written them down for themselves
to use later.

● Instructional Strategies (Describe all instructional methods you will employ during the lesson.)

The instructions from the power point will be left up on the screen after everything is
explained but they will have to write them out first while I reach the lesson.
● Student Participation (How will you engage students and get them on board to participate?)

I will ask them to read parts from the powerpoint and ask for examples of nouns,
verbs, and adjectives. I will at the end ask questions of the form of poetry and the
structure of it through randomly choosing students to answer the question to make
sure they learned and understood the lesson.

● Formative Check (How will you check that all students are involved and engaged in the lesson?

Formly asking them questions, and checking on their progress while completing
independent work. Calling on students to make sure they have an understanding of
the lesson and activity.

● Closure (How will you end the lesson purposefully, with intentionality?)

I will end the lesson by introducing the activity that needs to be done and then
checking on the students to make sure they understand how to do their activity. When
their done with the activity I will ask them to voluntarily present to their class their
poem and image that goes with their poem.

● Assessment (How will you assess that students achieved the lesson goals or learning targets?)

The activity itself is their assessment of the understanding of the lesson target of
learning to write a diamante poem.
