Using A Router as A Replier or An Access Point?

Connecting to the Wi-Fi network is good option when the user is close to the router. People should
avoid locating the Wi-Fi near to free band technology like wireless phones or microwave, these
types of elements generate signals that can cause interference with Wi-Fi. All of them uses a free
band of 2.4 GHz that doesn’t generate any fee for producing wireless signal, but the ones that are
different of Wi-Fi will interfere with it and decrease the internet quality. This is the first rule for
maintaining a good internet quality, nevertheless there are other options to improve your Wi-Fi
link and improve the internet quality inside your home.

Firstly, and the most common option is using a replier which allows the user to improve the scope
of the main Wi-Fi link inside a home. This device becomes a client from the main router and share
the bandwidth or capacity. it implies that capacity is reduced because the main router will divide it
between all the connected clients, including the replier. It means that for getting the best of a
replier you must connect the most of devices in the main router and a small quantity in the replier.
For example, the router will give the same capacity to a smartphone and the replier, which is
connected to three devices, then, the smartphone will have half of main capacity and the three
different devices will have a sixth part of main capacity (a half divided on three).

Secondly, a smarter option is to use an access point instead of a replier. This configuration for a
router requires additional cable connection to the router installed by the internet provider, but
the big advantage is based on the Wi-Fi network generated. These elements (main and customer
routers) provide each one of them a different wireless link with its own capacity and it will provide
the same to all devices that are connected. For example, three elements connected to the main
router will have a third part of its own capacity, then, two more devices that are connected to the
access point will have a half the AP’s capacity without affecting the three devices that are
connected to the main router.

In conclusion, there are interesting options to improve our Wi-Fi network. In my point of view the
access point is the best because it allows you to generate a new network that gives to all your
devices the same capacity. It will reduce the loss produced by obstacles and distance and increase
the number of devices that you can connect.
