ON TARGET RANGE SAFETY RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. You must be 18 years of age and possess a valid Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) Card or out of state Driver’s
License, to rent long guns, purchase long gun ammunition and use the rifle range. You must be 21 years of age and
possess a FOID Card to rent handguns, purchase handgun ammunition and use the pistol range. Long gun shooters
under 18 years of age and handgun shooters under 21 years of age must be supervised by a parent or legal guardian while
on the range. If you do not have a FOID card, you may shoot on a lane as the second shooter, provided the primary
shooter possesses a valid Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) Card.
2. Anyone with alcohol on their breath or who appears to be impaired in any way (including impairment from prescription or over-the-
counter drugs) will not be permitted in the range. The decision as to whether a shooter is impaired will be made at the Range
Officer’s SOLE DISCRETION and may not be challenged.
3. No loaded firearms are to enter or exit the building unless holstered, concealed and the owner holds a valid CCW Permit. At no
point is a concealed firearm to be unholstered within the Pro Shop. If you wish to shoot your concealed firearm, you must carefully
unholster it at the shooting line only. You then must clear it, pointed down range, and resume as if it is a normal range session. At
no point is drawing from the holster permitted unless you are taking a class that addresses that specific skill.
4. Pregnant women are not allowed in the range due to possible lead and sound exposure which may cause harm to the fetus.
5. Firearms, ammunition and all bags are subject to inspection at the check-in counter.
6. All firearms must be cased when entering and exiting the facility. Case and uncase firearms at the shooting bench only.
7. Shooters renting firearms are expected to understand how the rented firearm operates. Only ammunition purchased from OnTarget
may be used in rented firearms.
8. A maximum of two shooters are allowed per lane. No spectators are allowed in the shooting bay.
9. Eye and ear protection must be worn at all times while on the range.
10. Keep your finger off the trigger until you are on the firing line, ready to shoot.
11. Do not place a firearm on the bench unless all actions are open and ejection ports are visible. If you have a jammed or
malfunctioning firearm, place your firearm on the bench with the muzzle pointing down range and ask range personnel for
assistance. NEVER leave the firing line with a loaded or jammed firearm.
12. Loaded firearms may not be handed from one person to another.
13. Be sure your firearm is safe to operate and know how to use it safely.
14. Know your ammunition. Be certain it is the correct ammunition for your firearm and that it is safe to fire.
15. Commands issued by the range staff must be followed immediately.
16. No one is permitted forward of the firing line at any time FOR ANY REASON.
17. On Target is a tobacco-free environment. A designated smoking area is located outside the range, in front of the rifle range door.
18. Food and drink are not allowed in the range.
19. Only fire at your target. Know your target and what is beyond.
20. Shooting at anything other than your target is prohibited and will subject you to removal from the range.
21. Only regulation paper targets may be used in the range. Non-paper targets must be purchased from the range. We retain the right
to prohibit any targets we deem to be offensive.
22. Use the appropriate target placed at eye level to ensure that your shot strikes the backstop and not the floor, ceiling or target carrier.
23. Shotgun loads are limited to slugs, 0 buck, 00 buck, 000 buck and 1 - 4 buck. Traditional target and game loads are not permitted.
24. Rifle and shotgun shooters must place targets at eye level, whether seated or standing, to avoid damage to the carriers, ceiling and
floor. Smaller targets may be affixed to larger targets.
25. Tracer, armor piercing and steel cored ammunition are not allowed on the range.
26. No full auto, “bump firing,” rapid fire, shooting from the hip, or drawing from a holster UNLESS you are participating in a firearms
training course which requires such firing sequences. This includes off-duty law enforcement and military personnel.
27. When you are finished shooting, keep the action open, place your unloaded firearm in its case, and proceed to the check-out area.
28. Always wash your hands and face with cold water immediately upon leaving the range.
All shooters are expected to know, adhere to, and help enforce On Target’s Safety Rules and Regulations. If you observe a violation of the
range rules, please bring it to the attention of any staff member and we will take corrective action. If, through your negligence and/or your
failure to abide by these Safety Rules and Regulations, you damage the range or any of its equipment, you may be billed for the cost of
restoring the range to its former condition. It is our goal to maintain a safe environment for the enjoyment of our members and customers.
