Driscal D is a synthetic polymer that provides fluid loss Driscal D is a high performance synthetic polymer
control for water-based fluids in high temperature wells, specifically designed to provide HPHT fluid loss control
including high salinity fluid systems. in water-based drilling, completion and workover fluids
that are subjected to extreme conditions of temperature,
salinity and hardness. Driscal D can improve the
thermal stability of the whole mud system because it is

non-fermenting and stable at temperatures up to 475°F
(246°C).
Appearance Powder Driscal D is designed for harsh environments and can
tolerate high salinity brines and Calcium Hardness in
Colour White excess of 100,000 ppm. The product is effective for
shale inhibition and encapsulation, and for maintaining
Odor None cuttings integrity, which helps to improve the efficiency
of the solids-control equipment. Driscal D also helps to
Specific Gravity 1.44 reduce differential sticking tendencies and can be used
for reducing abrasion of hematite weighting agents.
Flash Point Not flammable
Driscal D is not classified as hazardous and can be used
Solubility Soluble in water in environmentally sensitive areas.

PACKAGING AND STORAGE

APPLICATION
Typical Driscal D concentrations range from 0.5 to 5 ppb
(1.4 to 14 kg/m3) depending on application, fluid system
and wellbore conditions.
Driscal D should be mixed slowly at the mixing hopper in
order to prevent “fish-eyes”, which will result in higher
product consumption and reduced product perform-
ance.
Driscal D is supplied in 25 lb multi-ply paper sacks and
should be stored in a dry location.
HSE
Driscal D is not classified as hazardous, but dust
particles may be an irritant. The following safety wear,
as recommended in the MSDS, should be used when
mixing Driscal D:
