Hello Rising Sophomores!

Welcome to 10th Grade! You have completed your first year in high school, and I’m confident
that as you take some time to reflect back over the year, you have seen growth-both academically and
personally! This is a huge accomplishment-especially as a student of MMSTC, and you have a great deal
to be proud of!

Next year, you will be taking a math course called Functions, Statistics, and Trigonometry (FST).
This course will extend on your prior mathematical knowledge, incorporation of new topics, and teach
you to apply mathematics topics in various contextual situations. Your success in the course is important
to me. As a result, your summer homework contains a review of topics that will give you a solid
foundation to build upon next year.

This summer, I am asking you to complete two main tasks and your parents to complete one:

 DeltaMath Summer Homework Assignments (Due Friday of First Week of School)

o DeltaMath is an online platform that can be used on a computer, tablet, or
mobile device.
o Go to deltamath.com and create an account. Enter the class code 482692.
o You will complete four sections of review: Algebra Basics, Linear Review,
Functions, and Quadratics. These are mastery-based assignments, so they will
require you to answer 2 consecutive questions correct on each topic before
moving on.
o Summer homework will be scored as an assessment grade. This means that,
provided you complete the four tasks and survey, you will start the year with a
25/25 in the assessment category of the gradebook.
o DeltaMath has built-in help videos for each topic of study, should you need a
‘refresher’ on the topics that are being covered.

If there is anything that prevents your ability to complete these tasks, please reach out to me so
that alternative arrangements can be made.

Depending on your summer schedule, I would recommend that you take some time completely
OFF from school work. I would recommend that you begin about 4 weeks before school starts, and
spread out each of the four assignments over the course of a week-it’s a distance run, not a sprint.
Further, know that the time it will take you to complete the assignments may vary from your peers,
based on your comfort with the material-and that’s okay!

but I ask that during the summer months you give me 48 hours to respond. I am looking forward to
