It was up until the 11th century that the Vietnamese had their own historians to record the

history of their country and people, in the past it was completely wild and legendary, or had
to rely on copies of the history of the Chinese. But the Vietnamese actually existed in this
land as of thousands years ago, with ancient remains from the Paleolithic period. The
mailboxes and optimizers found them to be no different from the mailboxes of the European
ones. In terms of beliefs, primitive Shamanism followed the ethnic groups in Vietnam, then
combined with other fails such as Buddhism, Buddhism, ancestors worship and Mother
Goddess worship, or it could be said that cestors worship and Mother Goddess worship also
have the same source with shamanism. The new and the old overlap each other, not
knowing the specific origin, the specific time, but they are likely the springs of water flowing
in the nation that have never stopped, and are conditioned to rise in this and other ways. .
Mother Goddess worship certainly existed before the introduction of Buddhism, but the
worshiping objects that entered the Mother Goddess worship were not as ancient as Buddhist
churches. The lyrics, and many new forms of going to the trance, (the earliest material we
see is 1924, most of the lyrics are spread across generations) but having deep relation with
the witch religion from the holes and burrows. Then, even in the churches, there are altars of
Mother Goddess, people organize going to the trance right in the churches, next to the
temples and in the lyrics, the prayers are always Nam Mo A di đà Phật at first and then come
lạy Thánh mớ bái.
Different ethnic groups in Vietnam, such as the Tay people, Thai people, Muong people, Dao
people, Tay Nguyen people, etc., all have primitive beliefs and preserve the signs of
shamanism in different ways. Singing Then Tay, telling Khan Tay Nguyen, Mo Muong, etc.,
all accompanied by rituals of ecstasy, or, rituals of going into the trance, as if there was
something in common with the Vietnamese (the Kinh) in this ancient spirit, although the fail
of Mother Goddess has developed into a complicated system of clairvoyance, has many
artistic properties and has become a wide network of Mother Goddess from the fields to the
mountains, with many temples and clusters of temples, and altars of Mother Goddess are
available in the temples. The ancestors worship has never been and the Mother Goddess
worship has emerged as widely and deeply as it is today, although it has just been
submerged during the period from 1945-1990, the period starting from the August Revolution
of 1945 and the wars after that, at the same time, except for extreme superstition. It can
manifest in fixed lineage, genealogy, search for relatives during war, searching for grave and
remains of the martyrs, psychic connection and spiritual world, development of going into the
trance and opening palaces with many new forms, various ages, even teenager and
representational mannerisms. The religious vitality that Cadière speaks of extremely clarified
the revival and variation of religious life and practice in Vietnam.
The Vietnamese respect the major religions, and are ready for the local faiths to join as part
of a large, messy and impossible religion, without fear of losing themselves. Gods and
Buddhas are equally respected and powerful, and certainly positions have their own
functions on the nirvana, heaven and earth.
