MY WRITING JOURNAL- PRE-IELTS WEEK 6

WRITER:

DAY 1
What's your opinion about divorce?

Divorce is a beautiful thing for unhappy couples, it's very expensive for men but still, it gives joy and relief to take the life peaceful

rest of the years.

DAY 2
Should all high school students have to take a foreign language?

High school students should learn foreign languages because knowing another language can help them a lot in life. in situations

of communication with foreigners or while applying for a job

DAY 3
What are the advantages and disadvantages of both parents working?
A few advantages of both parents working include better financial footing and less financial stress. More money translates to
higher-quality daycare, early education, private schooling, better healthcare, and more frequent vacations. One of the main
disadvantages is less time spent with your children.
DAY 4
Teenagers around the world should not be allowed to drive until they are 18.
Teenagers around the world aren't allowed to drive until they're 18. This is quite the right decision, but there are still many
obstacles to strictly enforcing this law. Right because at the age of 18, we are old enough to take responsibility for what we do

and master our steering wheel. The only problem with waiting until they turn 18 is that you have a large pool of college students

with almost no driving experience.

PRE-IELTS: LESSON 12

DAY 5

Universities should accept equal numbers of male and female students in every subject. To what extent do
you agree or disagree?
Read the following model anwer and learn ideas and vocabulary from it.
In my opinion, men and women should have the same educational opportunities. However, I do not agree
with the idea of accepting equal proportions of each gender in every university subject.

Having the same number of men and women on all degree courses is simply unrealistic. Student numbers on
any course depend on the applications that the institution receives. If a university decided to fill courses with
equal numbers of males and females, it would need enough applicants of each gender. In reality, many
courses are more popular with one gender than the other, and it would not be practical to aim for equal
proportions. For example, nursing courses tend to attract more female applicants, and it would be difficult to
fill these courses if fifty per cent of the places needed to go to males.

Apart from the practical concerns expressed above, I also believe that it would be unfair to base
admission to university courses on gender. Universities should continue to select the best candidates for
each course according to their qualifications. In this way, both men and women have the same opportunities,
and applicants know that they will be successful if they work hard to achieve good grades at school. If a
female student is the best candidate for a place on a course, it is surely wrong to reject her in favour of a male
student with lower grades or fewer qualifications.

In conclusion, the selection of university students should be based on merit, and it would be both
impractical and unfair to change to a selection procedure based on gender.

NOW WRITE YOUR ANSWER. USE AS MANY STRUCTURES (IN BOLD) FROM
THE MODEL ANSWER AS YOU CAN.

Today, the debate over whether equal numbers of male and female students should be accepted in all subjects

has caused a controversy among countless universities. In my opinion, it is not necessary to have an equal

number of students of each gender in all subjects; however, it should also be noted that the proportion of each

sex should not exceed 75% per class.

First of all, students should be accepted according to their academic level regardless of their gender. Schools

should not be biased and reserve the quota for boys over girls.

PRE-IELTS: LESSON 12

However, it is not possible to over-balance the gender ratio because some industries are more popular with one

gender than another.

In summary, I think it's important to keep the right number of students for boys and girls to not exceed a 3:4
ratio. The selection of university students should be based on merit, and it would be both impractical and
unfair to change to a selection procedure based on gender.
