The history of

photography

PRESENTATION BY SLIDES
By: Tan Al-Abdali
When was the first camera made?

In 1816 the first camera was made “the photographic camera”.

The camera may not be used in this generation because it is
not sold in 99% of the shops but they are sold in a couple
places but it is most likely very expensive.

2
when was the first photo taken?

In 1826 the first photo was taken it took a long time as

they had to use “advances in chemistry and optics”. As
well as they had to set the stage for the worlds ever
first photo to be taken.

digital art photography
history
The history of digital photography began in the
1950s. In 1951, the first digital signals were
saved to magnetic tape the first video tape
recorder. Six years later, in 1957 the first
digital image was made through a computer
by Russell Kirsch.

Invented in 19th century and the subject of numerous (more than one)
improvement during the time of Victorian art, photography instantly
apprehend more detail and information than traditional
methods/system of replication, like painting or sculpture.

What inspires me most about

these 2 pictures is how
simple and old fashioned
they are.

History Of Fine Art

Stieglitz, Alfred HonFRPS was
an American photographer
and modern art advocate
who helped to establish
photography as an accepted
art form throughout the
course of his 50-year career.
Robert Frank was a Swiss
documentary filmmaker
and photographer who
later became an American
binational. For his new
and nuanced outsider's
vision of American
society, Frank's most
known work, The
Americans, published in
1958, garnered him
parallels to a modern-day
de Tocqueville.

what is architectural
photography you may ask? It is
the photography of capturing
aesthetically pleasing “Piece of
concrete” which is the architecture
its self.

Dating back to the 1830's, William Talbot

and J.L.M. Daguerre are are the creators
of Architecture Photography. 2 approaches
were developed which are the Elevation
Approach and the Perspective Approach.
The Elevation Approach is as it sounds it
is similar to a blueprint or a plan.

In fact it inspires me so
much to the point where I
actually want to be an
Architect.

Architectural photography
Berenice Alice Abbott was
an American photographer
best known for her portraits
of mid-century cultural
leaders, 1930s New York
City architectural and urban
design photos, and 1940s to
1960s science
interpretation.

What inspires me is the way it

Carol McKinney Highsmith is
an American photographer,
novelist, and publisher who

landscape in all fifty states.

of the first to use 35 mm film.
He popularized street

Portrait photography:
When photography was invented,
everything changed. Robert Cornelius
used the ancient daguerreotype to
photograph the first successful portrait,
a self-portrait (a selfie, no less) in 1839.
Cornelius made advantage of the
natural light to get a quicker exposure.

This inspires me to take

more pictures of people in
the future.
Philippe Halsman was a
portrait photographer from
the United States. He was
born in Riga, Latvia, and
died in New York City, both
of which were part of the
Russian Empire.

influence the final image.
Diane Arbus was a photographer
from the United States. Arbus's
photographs contributed to the
normalization of excluded groups
and the importance of accurate
representation of all individuals.

Macro photography

Macro photography is all about

showcasing a subject larger than it is in
real life — an extreme close-up of
something small. A full-frame insect in a
five-by-seven-inch photo and a four-inch
product shot of a cornflake go well above
life-size: both are examples of macro
photography.

What inspires me:

Is the small detail that can be
observed

has a unique vision that allows him to see the true morphology of insects at unusually small
sizes.

Landscape photography

Landscape refers to an image that is larger than it is tall, or photographed in a

horizontal position, when addressing orientation or direction. The image below
was taken in landscape mode. It's longer than it is wide. The term "portrait
orientation" refers to an image that is taller than it is wide.
Examples
Charlie Waite is an English landscape photographer noted for his "painterly"
approach in using light and shade. Born in England, he worked in theatre and
television for the first ten years of his professional life before moving to
photography. He is noted for his square format images using a 6x6 Hasselblad.

What inspires
me is the
beautiful view
and the
sceneries.
Ansel Easton Adams was a landscape photographer and environmentalist who
is best known for his black-and-white photographs of the American West. He
was a founding member of Group f/64, a group of photographers who
advocated for "pure" photography, which promoted sharp focus and the
utilization of a photograph's whole tonal range.

What inspires me is the

beautiful view and the
sceneries.
