Campaign Setup:
Print out the Game Log, Team Rosters Tab and Campaign tabs of latest version of the campaign. (Landscape)
Use a pencil as these can change quite a bit over time.
Use the game log to record each game played.
Keep track of schemes completed and times failed on the campaign sheet.
Alternatively, just make a copy of these two pages in your own Google Doc and track electronically.
Hero Teams:
Most Heroes have been assigned to a Hero team. (Some Heroes are on Multiple teams)
These teams can be seen on the "Team Roster" tab.
Feel free to substitute heroes with alternate versions or different heroes entirely. A Hero Team should start the campaign with 6 members if at all possible.
Team Icon
Some heroes are on Multiple teams, Consider them to have the Icon already on their cards and the Team icon for the team of the current game.
Example: Playing a SHIELD game with Hawkeye and Black Widow, they both would have Avenger and SHIELD team icons. However playing with them in an Avengers
Game they would only have the Avengers Icon.
New Teams?
Some new teams have been formed that do not have Icons. (Excalibur) . If you are playing a game for a team without a Team Icon, consider that team to have
unique Team Icon.
In the current game, Assume the Heroes listed for the current team have that current teams Icon along with the Icon actually on their card.
Example: Nightcrawler will have both an "Excalibur" team and and X-Men team icon when playing an Excalibur game.
Free agents do NOT gain the team Icon, but do retain any Icon their cards may already have.
Can I earn back heroes that have been removed from the campaign?
Yes, but it is not easy and it will only be possible if you own the Villains or World War Hulk Expansions of Legendary.
There are 14 Villains / Warbound Missions listed below the Hero missions in the campaign.
Each of these games can be attempted only once.
Should you manage to win a villains game, you may return ONE hero to the campaign. They will return as a Free Agent Hero usable in any mission.
Regaining heroes this way will not return a Team from being Broken Up. So get those heroes back before a team hits the "broken up " point.
If you don't have all the expansions, here are some rules to help fill in the missing slots.
Missing Scheme:
Skip the entire mission (Considered a Win)
Missing Mastermind
Skip all schemes assigned to that Mastermind. (Considered Wins)
Missing Henchmen
Slide all Henchmen groups over one place. Add in whatever Henchmen group you feel fits thematically.
Missing Hero
Play that team without that Hero.
If without that hero the team has less than 5 members, any hero that is on another team remains in the campaign (to be used by those other teams). Any hero that
is only on this team is removed from the campaign.
If this leaves a mastermind without an opposing team, that mastermind must be defeated by another team that has already beaten all of their listed masterminds.

To add a Single Hero
Add Hero to the Hero Team matching the Team Icon on their cards.
If the custom hero has more than one team icon choose a team and that Hero will unlock for use with the 2nd team when the 1st team chosen has defeated all assigned schemes
If the custom hero's team icon is from a team not in the campaign, Add that Hero to the team who you feel they would work best with. Villains should join a villains team.
If the "Hero" does not have a Team Icon, add them to the Free Agents any game list (with Deadpool)
As a rough balance guide for every three heroes you add to the campaign you should add two schemes to the campaign.
To add a Mastermind
Figure which Hero team would most likely face off against the Mastermind you wish to add to the campaign. (Ex~ Ultron would most likely face the Avengers rather than the Fantastic Four or the X-Men)
Compare the relative difficulty of the new Masterminds to the Masterminds already assigned. (Ex~ I think Ultron would be tougher than King Hyperion but not as tough as Loki so I would place Ultron after
King Hyperion but before Loki)
Each New Mastermind should have at least two schemes assigned to them. To help Balance the campaign, for each two schemes added you should also add three heroes
You may assign the new Mastermind custom Schemes, following the instructions above for adding a scheme.
You may also reassign a scheme from any Mastermind in the campaign that has more than two schemes. (Ex~ Mass Produce War Machine Armor {Red Skull}, and Steal the Weaponized Plutonium
{Magneto} both sound like things Ultron would attempt so I could re-assign those two schemes to Ultron, where no new schemes were added then no new heroes would be needed)
Which ever scheme you feel to be the most difficult should be the last scheme the heroes have to attampt for this new mastermind. Players will also have to use the Final Blow rule to beat this Mastermind
for the final time.
Assign Villain groups and henchmen groups that make sense for the Mastermind and for the given scheme. Always be sure to add in any Always Leads or Scheme required Villain / Henchmen groups.
* There are also Upgraded versions of the Masterminds from the Base set. To make for a more challenging campaign I recommend using these upraded Masterminds.
Decrease Difficulty
Custom Bystanders - Add them in to the Bystander deck, no other changes
Defenders for a Day - Follow all rules from the Defenders custom expansion.
Agents of Shield - Use the Agents of Shield Officers expansion, replace the Maria Hill cards and play with the Shield Officer deck face down.
Alternate Starting Decks - Feel free to use - no impact on campaign play
Commanders - Each player may take a commander. That player has that Commander for the duration of the Campaign and may not swap them.
SHIELD Recruiter - Each player may take a SHIELD recruiter. That player had that Shield recruiter for the duration of the campaign and may not swap them.
If you don't have all the expansions, here are some rules to help fill in the missing slots.
Missing Villain Group Slide all Villain groups one space to fill in for the missing VG. Add in whatever VG you feel fits thematically
Missing Henchmen Slide all Henchmen groups over one place. Add in whatever Henchmen group you feel fits thematically.
Go without one. Or fill the slot with a Hero that has not already been assigned a "Scheme Optional Hero" position

Goals of the Campaign: (Version 6.0 - Updated 6/6/17)
To Win: Players must defeat each Scheme in the Hero side of the campaign. (50 Schemes)
Players may have heroes eliminated from the campaign depending upon results of game (ko pile and/or game loss).
So long as the player have a hero team that can attempt a scheme the campaign continues.
When it is impossible due to lack of heroes to attempt any of the remaining schemes the players lose the campaign.

Feel free to substitute heroes with alternate versions or different heroes entirely. A Hero Team should start the campaign with 6 members if at all possible.
Some hero teams have multiple rows (Avengers & X-Men). You may only use the first row of heroes for that hero team until that row has less than 5 playable heroes. Once that row has
less than 5, you may add in the next row of heroes to build the Hero Deck from including any heroes still available from the first row in the deck if you wish. Once the 2nd row has less
than 5 heroes, you may add the 3rd row and so on...
Once a team has unlocked a 2nd or 3rd row of hereoes that row remains unlocked even if you rescue heroes and return the first row to 5 or more. The Rows are to represent the teams
growth over time with new heroes joining the team.
For teams with multiple rows of heroes, Whenever you unlock a new row the wounds and shield officers reset to zero.
For teams with multiple rows of heroes, Whenever you unlock a new row, before playing a game with those heroes another Unlocked hero team can attempt the
last scheme you lost.
EXAMPLE: Our play group had played through all of the Avengers games defeating all the assigned masterminds and schemes. We now want to do an SHIELD game. Looking at the
Campgain setup tab the first scheme is Brainwash the Military with Arnim Zola as the Mastermind. Here are the heroes that would be available for us to build the Hero Deck from.
** SHIELD Hero Team: Nick Fury, Elsa Bloodstone, Steve Rogers - Director of SHIELD, Agent 13, Winter Soldier
** Unlocked Heroes From Avengers having been completed: Captain America, Hawkeye, Black Widow
** Scheme Optional Hero: Captain America (Falcon)
