America’s Transportation Sector Is Embracing Sustainability

Our planet is facing a major threat, and that is ‘Climate Change’.

Rising greenhouse gas emissions from the burning of fossil fuels pose a serious
threat to environmental sustainability, the planet's rich biodiversity, and human
life and livelihood. Governments, businesses and communities must work
together to lead the way to decarbonization through innovative technology
solutions.

In the United States, many important sectors have played a key role to support
sustainability over the years. However, the role of the transportation sector is
particularly significant, with 27 percent of greenhouse gas emissions1 coming
from mobility sources,

Answering the clarion call for America's net-zero transition, the transportation
industry is well-positioned to lead the world to a carbon-neutral future. The
solution lies in developing large-scale electrification of public and commercial
transportation to reduce the industry’s carbon footprint and power
sustainability.

Building a Smart EV Charging Infrastructure with Grid eMotion Fleet™

Penske has partnered with Hitachi to leverage Hitachi

Energy’s innovative grid-to-plug charging system, the
Grid-eMotion Fleet™ solution, to build a prototype
network of charging stations in Southern California as
part of an initial effort to transition to a fully
electrified fleet and forever change the future of EV
charging infrastructure.

With Grid eMotion Fleet™, Penske aims to scale this

charging infrastructure across all its organizational
ecosystem to reduce its environmental footprint.

Grid eMotion Fleet™ - Strengthening Sustainability Credentials

Hitachi Energy’s innovative grid-to-plug

charging system, Grid-eMotion Fleet™, uses
Hitachi's Grid-eMotion Fleet™ :
direct current (DC) technology and can
 Brings electric vehicles out of the niche
connect to any type of power network —
into the mainstream
removing the complexities of integrating
 Facilitates distributed charging
AC/DC chargers into a system.
 Leverages direct current system technology
 Connect all charging points to the grid
It also requires up to 60 percent less2 space
seamlessly
than other large-scale EV fleet charging.
 Is designed to fit into space-constrained
parking areas & bus terminals
