This project work is about the DISTRICT

COLLECTOR OF ASSAM, P.VIJAYA BHASKAR REDDY of


DHEMAJI District. In this presentation we
explained about the various Roles and Functions
of a District Collector. Also we tried throw
some light upon the Social Welfare Schemes in
DHEMAJI District.

He/She is an Indian Administrative Service


officer who is in -charge of a district, the basic
unit of administration, in India.

Functions of district collector


1)As the title signifies, one of the function is
collection of revenue. For eg- Collect Land
revenue, Maintain land records and to exercize
the power of Land acquisition officer
2)Law and order administration-The
maintenance of law and order in district is the
principal duty of the District Collector
Some of the them are- to control and supervise
the subordinate magistracy. To issue orders
when there is threat to public peace. To submit
an annual criminal report to the government. To
grant superior classes to prisoners. To
supervise and control local bodies. To control
and direct the action of district police.

Districts
The State of Assam is divided into 33
Administrative Districts. The districts are
demarcated on the basis of the features such as
the rivers, hills, forests, etc. Karbi Anglong is
the largest district of Assam followed by
Sonitpur.

SOME SOCIAL WELFARE SCHEMES IN DHEMAJI DISTRICT.
1) Issuance of Disability Certificate to
persons with Disabilities:- Screening camps
2) Pension Yojna for disability for people
being 40%+ disable getting rupees 1000 per
month. Scholarship to disabled students i.e
2400 rupees per month
3) One stop Centre is a project by union gov
designed to women in distressed.
4) It is a conditional cash transfer scheme
for Pregnant Women and Lactating Mother
for first live birth only. I.e rupees 5000 in
three installation
